Your not going to find a KJ front or rear bumber for anything less than $500+(new,little less if used) if your talking about a aftermarket steel one,you can make your own maybe for less(if you weld it all yourself). If OEM is what your looking for try posting in the wanted section,I'm sure someone has there old OEM for sale.

I didn't know KJ's had bumbers. There are plenty of women out there with nice bums, though. Even the Brit mums have nice bums. |

Bumpers can be pricey and usually are not below $500 like tjkj said. You have to think of a new bumper as more than just a cosmetic upgrade. Lets take the ARB or Rock Lizards stuff for example, standard bumpers are simply attached in a manner so they will release easily during an impact so the crumple in to help slow the vehicle down, this is why you NEVER try to tow a vehicle by the bumper ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5z9gkE0GFb8 ). The ARB and Rock Lizard are attached directly to the frame so they become a direct "heavy" extension of the vehicle, that means it can be a tow point or a piece of armor for the front of your 4x4 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4niGrPZ7Omc ). A new bumper will also improve your approach angle And at least with the KJ it will also allow you to have larger wheels without trimming away a ton of plastic on the stock bumper to decrease rubbing. A new off road bumper is nothing like new tires, wheels or a lift kit which are all manufactured by machines in a factory, right now as you read this there is a machine being feed a near endless length of steel rod which it curls into a coil and cuts off so it can make the next one. Even if the pieces are cut by a computerized machine it still requires a human to lay each piece onto a form and go around making sure it all lines up right and weld it by hand, thats where the cost of off road bumpers come from. In conclusion any good off road bumper is an important piece of equipment, it protects your vehicle, acts as a tow point and also lends itself as a good place to lift the vehicle via a hi-lift. So when you order your new Rock Lizard KJ bumper just remember that he is sweating away hauling steel plates around and dealing with the heat of a cutting torch and welder. thats my two cents. |

I agree with tommud, This jeep addiction can be costly and if you are like i was at 16 it's hard enough to just afford and drive a vehicle. I was 16 with a 82' CJ-7 laredo as my first vehicle and believe me i wanted to do ALOT of things to it but could only afford a Custom homemade lift and 32" used tires but i sure had alot of fun. Keep checking the forsale section and always do random searches on ebay you will be surprised what you can find |

My .02 When I was first looking into the ARB, I thought they were pricey. But when you look at the quality of the welds, the powdercoat, and how precision it is.... you get it. Keep an eye on here, because bumpers turn up from time to time in the marketplace... |

Drop that $200 in the bank and start adding to it for your KJ build fund. Be patient and occasionally you will stumble onto a deal and you just might have the money sitting in savings for the buy when you need it. Watch the RAOK thread in the sale section. I have been begging for freebies/cheap parts to help out a 16 yr old that just bought a XJ and needs to budget build it. So far I have done Really well. I donated a set of 245/75 MT/R's and another member here donated a set of 16" KJ wheels to mount them on. I have gotten 3" front springs, 2" rear springs (will add a shackle to those) & ZJ steering setup from some generous NAXJA folks that were delivered by another generous LOST member. Guess what I am trying to say is be patient and ask for help. Search around for deals and get involved in the forums and in a local club and it will be a big help to your build. Good luck! |

Hey Sean, that KJ on YouTube is MINE! LOL That was the first time I took it off road, and let me tell you, the ARB is built like a Sherman Tank! As you can see in the link, I landed on a rock with the bumper. It didn't even scratch it! really!!! Oh, and after that trip, I got a locker so next time I was in a similar situation, I walked right up it!!! THAT was a worth while mod! |
