the great wide world of lifts it the worst place to be for a student ever.. im penny saving like a mo fo and im still kinda iffy on what kit to get because there just seems like there is so much out there.. so let me start with the lifts im looking at. kit 1) full rusty's coil lift -465$ ---> are some spacers used in this kit? kit 2) OME medium duty springs all around w/ new shocks (either OME or Rusty's) and stock struts till i need new ones - about 280$ ---> how much lift would i get out of this kit? 1.5 as advertised or more? would i have to add spacers for more? also does a non stock strut add lift? kit 3) Rusty's 2" coils all around also with new shocks and also with stock struts - 320$ i really really want a lift however im kinda on a fairly tight budget.. OTT is out of the picture because it sounds like you might as well just burn that money you use on it, so im looking at a coil lift. for both kit 2 and 3 id eventually kinda turn them into my version of the rusty's coil lift with coils, struts, shocks and all.. however i think that because of what ive heard with contact issues id really like to have less than a 2.5" lift - ideally a 2" lift i think would be great for me but for right now with my money the way it is im kinda weary to just jump right in with all of it and get the whole coil lift.. plese add all input to this as you can.. and if there is anything you would add to any of the lifts to make them better please tell me.. thanks for all your help in advance -trenton |

Rusty's full coil lift is what i just installed, although, i upgraded to the OME LONG rears from All J's not from Rusty. darn near 700 after the smoke cleared.....or just use Rusty's rears and call it a day for 465. no other spacers are NEEDED, but some folks add a lock nut/clevis lift in front, and a Mopar rear spring isolator add on in the rear...total cost for that stuff is under $40. good luck |

OME coils are great, you can also use some conduit nuts for a little extra and gain some heighth. With my setup the upper joint is about 1/8 inch maybe away from contacting , rides good, and looks almost as high, or as high as a Rustys full coil lift. I would really replace the front struts no matter which way you go as no use doing it twice. Everyone has the same problem trying to come up with the best lift for the best price. Look at some of the ones who have OMEs and I think they all look great. My pennys worth of advice tom |

Check the Daystar lift. I have not heard of any issues with it and it might be cheaper so it fits your budget. |

Kit 1: No spacers.. Good all around lift IF you get better rear shocks.. kit 2: Ive never seen OME coils that cheap.. Fairly sure a full OME lift is around $600 and you only get around 1.5-2" of lift where you get a full 2.5-3" with the rustys. kit3: Isnt this the same as kit 1 but you changed the price? again, idk how you are getting the coils and shocks for that cheap.. DO NOT get OTT.. That lift should be illegal. |

first wait untill you can buy new struts as you will have to pay to have them compressed twice and that is a pure waste of money I know that you want max lift for min money I was like that once and PAID dearly for it so please dont do it Long story short Fresh out of school bought a 4wd ford ranger and wanted to run 33's so i did a 3" body lift and the added a 1.5" lift block to the rear ,stupid and then in my dumbest moment I tightened up the torsion bars to get another 1.5" or so of lift up front and got some 33's on it well 12mpg and no go power even with the 4.0 V6 and a 5 speed and then 2 years later $1600 to replace every bushing and such on the front end on top of that I wanted to regear and lock it so I was looking at $3000+ because I could not wait and get the right stuff I sold that truck as is and bought a TJ I would/will only buy OME springs for a DD ,I think I have said that befor, We have med all around and they ride great as far as shocks as long as they are installed correctly and you have the correct amount of bumpstop for that length shock then buy what you want but some will ride better than others I have OME and love them The rustys shocks WILL make noise and $20 total in savings is just not worth it as far as struts go why kid your self after 36-50K depending on driving the OE's are shot and need to be replaced I have ranchos mainly because no one had the OME's when I wanted them but they ride fine I dont know how well the OME struts with the OME springs will ride but IMO the OME/rancho set up I have rides better then a full rustys coil lift I have rode in a KJ with the full rustys kit With the set up I have you can run 245/75 16 MTR's with little rubbing on OE wheels |

Like Jason said, its best to go ahead and get at least the front shocks since you must take the suspension apart along with the coil overs just to put new shocks in. It wouldnt be a problem waiting for new shocks on the rear since those are held on by two bolts.. With the kits you have listed you cant really go wrong. None of them give upper balljoint contact unless you give it to much clevis lift... None of them will give to much lift so the cv's will be happy.. But remember the OME coils will not give as much lift(around 1" less). |

Ok, so I know I am going to take some heat for this, but I totally understand the "budget" situation so I am going to throw it out there anyways!! I am running a "Rocky Road Outfitters Budget Lift". Yes, it's an OTT spacer in the front, and a big poly spacer under the spring in the back. I do believe it's $219, very cheap!! Maybe I am one of the lucky ones, but I have had ZERO problems. I have ran the kit on both a 2002 and now on my 2007 KJ. I did have to replace the lower ball joints on the 2002, but it had 89,000km on it so it was inevitable. ANY lift is going to put added stress on the ball joints because they sit at a higher angle, the joys of IFS. A few ppl complain of the struts going and all sorts of other problems, but I personally vouch that I have had zero issues. I will agree with others who say that RRO's customer service sucks. I had a b*tch of a time getting it shipped (I'm in Canada so customs played a role). As far as I see it, once I have it on there, I don't need customer service anyways. Like I said, seems ppl complain about them, but I will say that it has worked for me! If you need any info, let me know. I'll see what I can do. |

I have no suspension issues as far as contact the tires rub some in the rear at full stuff but the front fits just fine I still had to "move" the fog lamp door but no pinch issues even full stuff lock to lock I also got ~2" maybe a slight bit more but right now ,6K+ later and a good bit of wheelin it is sitting at a solid 2" Let me get on the other computer and I will get up a good pic for ya OK took a while

here's the other side
OH and just for the record JK 4 door rubi can NOT take this line they need to do some fancy angle stuff I just drive strait up and over even better is that a stock FJ can NOT even make it up at all with out draging the front skid plate AND going on an angle at the same time I would consider my KJ to be very mildly moded if at all but a little goes a long way |
