| Post subject: | Mix or match? OME rear spring choice. |
We've had some really good debate, lately, about which OME front springs to use. Following ARBSeth's advice, I've reconsidered using the HD's and may give the light springs a try. There is no heavy bumper or winch in my near future. Now, for the rear. I've read that I should use the HD rear coils if I tow. But, here is my concern. My boat and trailer only wieghs right at 2,000 pounds. Even though it's a single axle trailer, the tounge weight isn't that much. Since I'm pulling no where near the KJ's rated 5,000 pounds, I'm wondering if I need the HD rear coils or should I drop down a notch to get a better ride when I'm not towing. Since this is our "family ride", I sure don't want to have it end up riding like my old lifted Scout II. The wife would have my stupid. |

So besides your boat at 2000 lbs and then with how many people/food/snacks/whatever else, maybe up to 2500/2750 or higher i would go with at least the mediums I think |

I Actually like the ride of my HD's in the rear without towing anything, so you can't go wrong as far as I'm concerned! By the way your wife will get use to the different ride in no time, My fiance drives the jeep 90% of the time and have never heard any complaints about the ride quality since the lift, Actually she likes it! |

I'd go with the HD's. With all my gear and Two 200+ Pound guys in the back, I lost a few inches of ride height. And that was without any kind of trailer. |

The ice chest rides on the boat and with the kids grown and gone it's usually just the wife and I. Most of the time we only have to haul the boat about 30 minutes away to go fishing. Starting next summer, we'll haul it over near Lake Patagonia, about 4 1/2 hours drive, and leave it at our older son's place for the summer. |

I have no idea what they'll weigh but I do plan to add sliders. I don't know if this will make a difference or not, but thought I'd mention it, just in case. |
