Post subject:  A lift for the 07?

I visited my Jeep dealer the other day and asked about lifting it and he said they would not do it for me because there is no proper lift for 07. Is this true or is he just not comfortable doing it so he is giving me the run around. He mentioned they recently lifted an 06 or 07 I can't remember but he said they would not do another until there is a proper lift because they had to many issues with that one.

I then emailed a local off road shop and asked for a quote/ suggestion for a lift and they said they could put in a BDS 2" Lift. I am new to wheelin' and lifts. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Look up in the "Sticky" section...plenty of info...all 02-07 are basically the same except the CRD.

He should had said there is not a proper lift that he is aware of. If you want to lift your KJ you have several good choices and many bad ones. I 'll just talk about the ones I have experienced personally and other may chime in as well on their experiences. Innitially I had the Rocky Road Outfitters 2 1/2" budget boost. I was good for the first few thousand miles but then it started to squeak, clunk etc. The ride was terrible and it blew out my front end after 20k miles. So I went to the Frankenlift II from AllJ's (www.boulderbars.com) and their lift is perfect in my opinion. The ride is great, no sounds from the suspension and it has all the bumpstops and stuff needed to protect the ball joints and shocks. The Frankenlift costs the most but that's because it is the best and they have amazing service.

Other lifts I hear good things about are:

Rusty's full suspension lift
Rockfather II but Rocky Road Outfitters has terrible service.

Good luck and welcome to the club.

Thanks Guys,

I will check the "sticky". I think I will lean towards the Frankenlift or the Rusty's.

I see that your from vancouver! I was also looking into rusty's and the frankenlift when i was going to purchase my lift but the shipping and duty from the US makes the lift price go up Quickly. I found a dealer here in alberta that sold OME(Old Man Emu) lifts so that's what i went with. Decent price and Excellent quality, check it out.You should be able to find some more info on ARB.com. Old Man emu, rusty's or the frankenlift are all great and you can't go wrong with either one!

What, the service manager is an idiot because he doesn't pay attention to AFTERMARKET stuff for vehicles, when he works for a company that deals with FACTORY equipment? come on.

Frankenlift "issues"- you need upper control arms to avoid destroying your UBJ's
Rusty's issues - same
RRO - dunno, haven't messed with em
anything else - same

The fact that a dealership even considered lifting ONE Jeep is a miracle enough, the guy doesn't need to be blasted just because he doens't need to know the ins and outs of AFTERMARKET parts for EVERY SINGLE VEHICLE he services.

Do you work for a dealership?

No, but why should a dealership know about aftermarket parts not offered by the factory? what good is it gonna do THEM?

I just found an interesting piece of bureaucracy at my dealership.
The service department will only use original Jeep parts, period, end of discussion (unless they choose to use substitutes that suit them).
However, the body/repair shop portion of the dealership is more than happy to install parts (such as my planned-for ARB Bull Bar) of my choosing with only a concern for "how does it fit"?
I thought that was an interesting bit of news, and wanted to share, as I'm willing to bet that a similar situation exists for many other dealerships.

This is a 5-star dealer we're talking about btw.

Supalive about the lift go OME that is what I have and love it
I can fit 245/75's on OE wheels with only minor rubbing at full stuff

to answer the questions about dealers and lifts
It is up to the dealer I know of 2 dealers in Baton Rouge LA that will sell you a jeep lifted with after market bumpers and a winch if you want
1 will even cover the suspension under warranty
the way it was explained to me by the bigger of the 2
you can maintain FULL 3/36 coverage on your jeep at any dealer as long as you put no more than 2" of lift on your jeep
not all dealers will cover the lift even if they install it
they told me they will lift ANY new jeep they sell as long as the lift is less than 2"
Now on the other hand drive 60 miles back home and go to the local dealer
first find a 4X4 on the lot then wach them laugh when you ask them about lifting it
they say NO and it "voids" the warranty of any part that it is bolted to

I am always amazed that anyone would even ask their Jeep dealership or any dealership for that matter about installing a lift. Most know nothing about what they sell.

Great info Guys. Thanks. OME sounds good. I will look into what I can get up here for a reasonable price.

I am by no means slagging my dealership. They were great to me and even though the service guy (Glenn) lol was not aware off anything aftermarket he did say that my warranty will still cover anything I don't replace.

Which dealer do you use?

I go to Vancouver Jeep on main..... They are awesome.

Don't expect them to know about aftermarket though.
They almost fell over when I drove in with the ARB on.
(Never seen one).
