I have a pre-lowered 2002. Just got smashed up a while back. (guy didn't know the difference between a protected left and an unprotected left) both cops and a few bystanders said that they were surprised by the lack of damage to my jeep :D. I drove it home after throwing what was left of the bumper in the back. I totaled his 2005 Toyota Tacoma.

Any way got it back from the shop and everything looks good, but i though there was a light under the hood. Can anybody tell me if there is supposed to be a lite under the hood or was I just imaging there was a lite there?

Not on my Jeep. I have thought about putting an LED light under there

My 88 XJ had a sweet light under the hood that you could pull out like a shop light, then reel back in when you were done. It sure made things easier to see in the shade.

My KJ doesn't have one :(

Haha, Ive seen the light like that on the xj's, it was sweet.

If you look under the hood it looks like there is a spot cut out in the foam for a light. Its all about those price cuts.

'05, and they still didn't have one. Been thinking about an LED with a hood switch or maybe even just a manual switch, myself. Although, I could just pull the spotlight out of the back, instead...

I've also thought of installing one, I can't believe no one has ever added one. I'll put it on my to do list.

All my XJ's (85,95 and 96) had one. BOTH KJ's (02 & 07) Don't.

Kind of miss it now that you mention it.

All Xj's had prop rods, KJ's Gas tubes holding the hood. wonder if the lights threw off the balance for the gas shocks? would not think they would, little old light can't weigh much.

Maybe DC didn't install a light under the hood cause they are thinking "its pretty rare for a Jeep to break down" but I like to check the oil & shtuff while on road trips. But then again gas stations are pretty well lit. I still like the idea of a light under the hood.

I carry a Maglite under the seat and it's come in handy plenty of times. But I would like both hands free. By the way it's a 20K vehicle and no $5 light under the hood.

Mine does not have a under-hood light either.

I have several mag lights but only one in the jeep.
