I'm looking at buying a used 2.5" Rocky Road lift kit so I can put 31's on my Libby for mild offroading. The kit comes with spacers and rear shocks, I guess it could be considered a "budget boost".

I've read where occasionally the IFS A frame will strike the front struts but isn't that during extreme offroading?

OK let me start
RRO brings the suck
budget boosts and spacer lifts also bring the suck
UBJ contact is only one of many problems with spacer lifts on the KJ

99% of the folks on this board will say the same thing in a different way
I am one of maybe 10% that will tell you that OME coils are the only way to lift a KJ
frankenlift's are fine but they use OME coils and a spacer
You can run 245/75's with just an OME coil lift

The original RRO Combo Lift which gave about 2-2.25" worked well for most. Honestly any "budget lift" that is done with just internal or OTT spacers is going to have drawbacks...that will bug you down the road. The spacer lifts that give 1.5"-2" are usually OK, but when they go to 2.5" they become problems for the most part including UBJ Contact.

Call around to a couple of other shops before you spend your hard earned dollars. I am waiting for the OME CRD lift from ALLJs...I know it will work (just waiting to order until the OME XL shocks come in). This way I will do the lift once and it will work.

On my 2000 KJ, I was one of the guinea pigs (by choice) for almost all the lifts...2.5" DayStar, RRO OTT, ect. Then we (L.O.S.T) by trial and error figured that you need less than a 2.5" internal puc up front to get a full 2.5" of lift...then we adjusted with the "clevis lift" which I tried first too.

After all is said and done, I trust a 2" lift for a couple of reason. The upper control arm will probably be safe, the CV Angles will be fairly flat and the wheels won't be drawn in so much up front...also easier on the Lower Ball Joints IMHO.

You might also want to try the RevTek lift...simple and gives you a true 2".
