| Post subject: | Ordered Frankenlift II Premium: Updated |
I'm finally getting around to the whole reason I upgraded the power of my Libby. I'm getting ready to order the Frankenlift II Premium with 2 sets of rear spring isolators, and the upgraded a-arms. I'm going to get the RL front bumper as soon as they are available. I want to go from my 245/65R17 Destination AT's, to 255/70R17's. I'd like to use the 2005 Limited 17X7.5 rims I already have until I get the bumper. Then, I think I'd like to go to a 17X8 with 4.5"-5" backspacing. I know I'll need to flatten the pinch weld, and heat gun the fog light door area, but is there anything else to surprise me? |

I think ALLJ's is currently out of the premium lifts, but I may be wrong. |

Everybody's waiting on the OME rear shocks. I'm going to go ahead and buy it because the rear shocks are on the way to the US, so it should only be a few weeks to get it. |

Anyone know if I'm going to need to do some trimming before I get the RL bumper, or will the pinch weld and working with the area around the fog light doors probably do it? If additional trimming will be necessary, can someone post some info on which spots? Thanks |

You'd really have to fit them on before knowing forsure, not many poeple running the bigger 17" rim sizes with bigger tires. You should be okay with the mentioned mods though. |

How do you like your super skinks? I'm trying to figure out what to do about the sides. I need a way to get skis off a roof rack after it's lifted. I never quite made it to 6', so it will be a stretch without something. I'm thinking those Line-X'd, would work really well, and make people really sorry that open their doors into them. I'm definately ordering the front bumper from RL when they're ready, and I've talked to him about the rear. I'm thinking that painting them to match the rest of the Jeep, or just going ahead and repainting the entire thing. And to Line-X the bottom sections of the bumpers instead of painting them. I'm wondering about the dual outlet exhaust with that setup though. I think I would want an exhaust tucked up higher. I'm hoping to fit the 255/70R17's because I want something a little bigger than the 245/75R16's, but without as much hassle to fit the 265/75R16's. This is also a daily driver. It's challenges are getting me to my ski trips, the ice storms that started here a few years ago, getting out to the farm through snow and ice, and 20 mph on hilly gravel roads. I'm thinking that this setup is going to easily handle anything I throw at it. |

Two Thumbs up on the decision to go with the premium kit. I saved the money and went the same route and I'm glad I did because the ride is soo much better. You'll get some crazy flex and articulation in the rear with the OME Long travel rear shocks. Well worth the wait...the OME suspension is second to none. Good luck and have fun building up your KJ...doesn't seem like you're lacking too much in the engine department. |

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to have too much trouble in the power department. It is kind of shocking right now. I know I'm going to take a loss with the bigger tires, and heavier bumpers, but when I hit 80k miles and can get the headers, cams, and pistons done it should make up for the loss. I think in the interim, I'll bump the boost from 1 psi to around 1.7 psi. I think it will be really nice when I finally get it finished, but it should be considering I'll have about $50k in it. |

I've taken a good look underneath the Jeep with it on flat ground. I'm getting just a little bit of rubbing right at the fog lamp doors, and the sway bar is rubbing on the liner. It doesn't look like I'll need to do more than trim around the sway bar, and heat up and push the fog light area in a little. If it will take more than that, can I just pull the fender liners and Line-X the inside of the fenders? Any problems with just doing that anyway? |

You can do that. Just make sure to seal the hole at the top of the pinch weld and any other places you think might fill up with grime/mud etc.... Do you have a pic KY? |

Didn't take any pics while I was looking around. It's already dark tonight. I actually have clearance at full lock everywhere the way it's set up right now. Just rubbing a little while articulating I guess. There's a shiny spot right by the fog lamp door, and the sway bar has actually hit the liner quite a bit. We'll have to see how much it changes with the lift and 255's. It looks like someone has taken out the liners and put them back in without the fasteners at the top. I see two small holes in the top of each with nothing in them. Doesn't look right to me. |

I keep a little box of the plastic rivets in my glove box to replace lost ones. I seem to lose them all the time now with the bigger tires. |

I may have popped them out with the sway bar hitting the liner. |

Possible....so how do you like the ride? Better, worse than the stock setup? |

You know I don't have the lift installed yet don't you? Or are you asking about the Sensa-Tracks and 17X7.5's? The ride and handling were much better than stock until recently. Started getting kind of bouncy. Think I bottomed out the fronts kind of hard out at the sportsmen's league. Still had another winter easily with these tires, but I'm bouncing and rubbing all of a sudden. Decided to go ahead and lift it and get some bigger tires under it like I've wanted since I bought it. |
