Anyone have any info on this or have done this to the liberty? My wife accually brought it up in conversation, which is funny because she never talks about cars at all. I thought it would be wise to investigate. I'd also like to do this conversion. |

I donno, I just dont see a point in pushing all the drivetrain all the time on a hot, dry, clean summer road. |

I see an "old timer" back in the day when they were putting this type hub on from the factory berings and seals did not last for 200K or more and the weight of the turning steel would cause drag causing the already under powered rig to go even slower and yes get poor MPG all that has changed we now have over 200 hp out of a 3.7L V6 now go back to the first V8 CJ in 1972 150 hp and 245 lb-ft of torque and the shipping weight is at 2500-2800# they dont list MPG but I would bet that it is 1/2 of what you get in your KJ oh and the standard engine on that CJ was like 100 hp |

From what I understand, Wally had the SFA done with warn hubs, 10 inch lift and bigger tires and was getting better gas mileage than before because of the hubs. |

hubs would come into play but also gearing would make a difference as well tom |

With the IFS setup it would require custom made knuckles and CV shafts to convert to manual hubs. Now on a SFA KJ like Wally's he is using a solid front axle that has the ability to have manual hubs.It would be nice but your probally looking at $5000+ to do a custom conversion like that on a KJ,need to have new knucles cast,CV's made and such. |
