Post subject:  Gearing suggestion

I was just reading on another Jeep board about gearing and it was stated that the early model Dana 30 axles used a longer pinion than the current version on the TJ. Isn't the problem with new gears for the KJ that the Dana 30A uses a longer pinion than the other Dana 30 gear sets? I don't know the specifics but would it be possible to use a gear set that is marketed for a CJ Dana 30 in the KJ? Someone with a little more mechanical knowledge want to check to see if the pinion lengths are the same. Just thought maybe it might be a possible solution to the shortage of gearing options for the KJ.

Interesting. I have the tools to measure them but I'd need the pinion gears from each. If it works, though, you may have a few hundred very thankful fans. Nice find, either way! I'll ask a few of my cj buddies if they happen to have any D30 pinion gears around and get some measurements, if I can.
