if i had a lotta extra money... including gas money.. i'd go with the MT but since gas money is low... i'd go with th AT, specifically BFG AT/KO |

It all depends on what your going to be doing, If your a serious wheeler then the MT would probably be a better choice, if your looking for good traction offroad and ok traction in mud then go for the at. The BFGs are very expensive however, but they are a great tire. I wouldn't trade my MTs for anything, they are a great all around tire. |

I have been researching tires as well and of all the advice I have gotten on this site so far (thanks again to all that have contributed) I am leaning in the direction of AT tires, which I have narrowed down to the General Grabber AT 2s due to functionality and price. Hope this helps, good luck! |

Too simple answer... like the name says... An "All Terrain" will not do very well in mud. Driving in mud requires mud tires, simple as that. Anything else and you will have serious problems. But, an All Terrain is exactly that. It does "everything" okay. It's okay on the road, okay in sand, okay on trails, okay in mud. So, if you drive in mud, and like the mud, buy mud tires. You will never appreciate them until you have them and wheel them in the mud, trust me!! If you don't like to drive in mud, or only do it getting to where you want go elsewhere, then get AT's. Easy as that ahahah |

I run the BFG A/T's and love them. They don't do horrible in the mud but of course they wont do as good as an MT. They have good road manners and have good traction on the trail. If your only going to drive on the dirt and wheel it than I would go with the MT, otherwise stick with the AT. It will be quieter on the road a give you better gas mileage. Corbin |

If it's just a weekend car then go M/T's If it's a daily then I'd go A/T's. The cooper ATR or Mickey Thompson ATZ are pretty nice. |

I've had both. AT's will not stand up to the sidewall abuse of rock crawling. Get MT's for that. MT's are noisy on the street and highway. If you don't do rock crawling you may prefer AT's. MT's look way better though. |

If you plan on going through any serious mud get the MTs. The General Grabber AT2s hold thick mud like syran wrap holds leftovers... or whatever... |

I'm with Ed......Cooper Discoverer ATR's.And as others have said, really depends on what you do the most.MT's are great in the mud,but if you can pass a hearing test, keep your sanity and go with AT's. Ron |

HUH...What did you say Ron Look at how much time you are going to really spend on the road -vs- off road, how far you drive everyday etc |

I drive close to 300 miles a week with a good 80% of those being on the highway. The MTs I have give off an almost pleasant hum at highway speed... course I do like the heavy metal so maybe my hearing's shot to begin with |

I choose my BFG A/T's over the M/T's for two reasons. One, the wife. Two, the winter. KJ spends most of the time on the road in the wifes command and the winters here are brutal from time to time. My YJ had BFG M/T's on it long ago and I'll never run them in the winter again. Snow wasnt so bad. Ice was what rolled it. |

I have Maxxis Buckshot Mudder MTs and I love them. Not bad on the road either. |

Snow wasnt so bad. Ice was what rolled it. I don't understand. Unless i'm really missing something, you think ATs will have better traction on ice than MTs? No matter what treads you got, unless it's studded or chained, you're gonna have no traction. |
