I was looking around today as well for diff stuff. I found a company called PML, and I know Crane makes one. Also Poison Spider Customs has a protector for the diff, something to look into...

for the love of god and all that is holy do not go near that POS with a 400 foot pole

that is who rock lizard first contracted with, marty trusted that company to make a solid piece and that is terrible

i have had 2 of those so far , and both have leaked out of every seam, the welds suck, and on one it was so warped it wouldnt make a seal

almost everyone else has had problems too

just wait till RL gets the new ones in stock soon

IF they have the Rock Lizard logo molded into them I am selling my current covers and buying a set. That would be very cool.

I have an original set of the Crane covers for my SFA axles before they got cheaper. Dang nice covers IF you can find them. The 8.25 version (allyrand has one) must be super rare to find though.

The rounded edges and low pro shape will be trick. What happened with the other doff covers, they looked pretty tough?

The thing is HEAVY duty but yeah the welds sucked. I had the welds fixed prior to installation then a few weeks after I installed it there was a pin size leak. Took it off again and there seem to be a tiny tunnel underneath one of the welds that was causing oil to leak. Anyways they sucked. After I did some fixing it now works great but no thanks to Ruff Stuff.
I heard the new ones from Riddle Manufacture will NOT have a drain plug.
Here is a pic of what the ones Rock Lizard was selling but were made by Ruff Stuff.

No,I have the RuffStuff one to from RL(no leaks, guess I got lucky) and it has a drain plug, wish it didn't.That is just one more thing that can leak if I backed into a rock and broke off the drain plug,I was going to weld the hole shut but I will be swapping out diffs soon so I just haven't done it yet.

First, let me set the record straight.

Martin did not contract with me to make his designed cover, he has no cover to redesign..... I did the entire design and had to hire a welder to specifically rush these covers to market after Martin sold people on our covers before I had even designed the 8.25" cover, everything was rush and I had to go with an untested welder on these while my other welders were busy keeping up with other orders just to get them to Martin. That was MY mistake, not Martins, not anyone elses, All Mine.

Secondly, Martin bought over 20 covers from me in 2 batches and told me 3 leaked, I replaced them but they were from that same welder and may have leaked also, I don't know. Martin decided to not allow me to honor my Guarantee and I have never seen any of these "leaking" covers and he continued to have them on his website for several months after, I assume he sold them all.

Since then we have sold over 300 of these without 1 leak as far as I know, and I make it a habit to know!
Since then we went to machining (flycutting) all of our covers to assure absolute flatness.
Since then we have had to replace exactly 3 covers for any reason and that is while producing and selling over 2000 covers.

If Martin encouraged you to believe he designed these and I executed his design badly that is just wrong. We don't make other peoples products, we make our own designs only! To what extent this was a problem I don't know, we never got a leaking cover back from Martin. However, that welder only worked on 25 - 8.25" covers before I discovered his flaws and then he didn't work for us any longer. And since the first 25 we have had no returned 8.25" covers for any reason and only 3 among the 8 other covers we make. And we have always had a 100% Guarantee on ANY & EVERY one of our products. All anyone ever had to do was call and I would have taken care of it.

So please do not bash Ruffstuff Specialties because we were never allowed to step up in the first place! These are the Strongest & Best covers made.

Here is a closeup pic of the 8.25 and a pic of the 8.8 in use, I will find a better in use pic of the 8.25" tommorrow.

ok so let me set the record straight , since i have owned 3 of these piece of s h i t covers so far

1. we KNOW martin did not make them, because if he did it would have been quality and not junk

2. i almost need two hands to count how many leaking 8.25 covers i have had to install and remove from my differential, and have had to replace fluid multiple times... and if i want i can count on my other hand and maybe a friends pair as well, the amount of people who have bought leaking and/or warped covers

3. dont bother uploading more closeup pictures, ill do it for you

If I had ever gotten the opportunity to be involved we wouldn't have this problem. Anyway, you can think however you wish, You certainly had a bad experience with that first rushed batch but a great many people think otherwise and for good reason.
One question, you have a warrenty and claim RL won't send the bad covers back so you can honor it then why has he been trying to send them back and YOUR the one not honoring your own warrenty?

you really shouldnt even be on this board, the sole reason you came on here is to preach your product and try to save face

thats not the point of this place.... we dont want to go to your website and get FREE STUFF!!!!!! cause we already know what kind of product you spin

this board knows and believes in Marty and Troy and Rock Lizard.....so even if we are biased, you're picking the wrong team

yes yes....why when i speak to marty about these covers, since he has TWO bad ones from ME alone, he tells me:

"well im trying to get these bad ones back to the supplier for a refund but he wont give me a straight answer (or he wont talk to me) , so f-it ill take the loss"

Gravel Maker,

Just tell me where to send mine for repair or refund... I've been topping off the gear oil since I put it on. Reminds me of an old VW I used to own, I'd add oil and check the gas.

Now that I think about it, I shouldn't have to change fluid, its cycled a couple of quarts through already

That could be considered a feature... "Automatic fluid rotation"

...or something...
