yeah i saw the rustys one after i posted this. These ones are way cheaper than the poison spyder (~$110). Hopefully they protect just as well. |

Looks like Rusty's would hold water and mud pretty bad and maybe rust out the cover. Is that an issue? |

i have a poison spider rock ring (like the red one shown above) and have given it a pretty good beating w/no problems. It's extremely heavy duty and i like that the bolts are counter-sunk into the ring for a little added protection. Heard good things about the Rusty's and Crane makes an actual diff. cover replacement that looks uber strong and is probably the best you could put on there (www. rockkrawler.com). Unfortunately it's a bit pricy for my needs. Good luck. |

I would not fool around with any of the "cover up" style guards I split my cover a while back and just got one that is something like .25" thick and super strong compared to stock if you pay $50 for a cover up guard then you still need to fiddle with 2 things when you change the oil and crap like that I say just go to a full cover replacement I paid ~$100 the other advantage is that the replacement covers tend to hold more oil so if they leak you can go longer befor you need to add oil |

Think along the line of if one is good two is better school of thought, would say the 4x4 with a poison spider work or the 4x4 with a Rustys. Yes this incorporates extra hardware to remove for servicing, is this an option or too much trouble then what it's worth? I'm a firm believer in never have enough armor and if you want to bling up your ride to build and exoskeleton to protect the ride. If you have deep pockets go for it. But if I'm being down-rite silly then I except that also. |

I noticed that the OP guard uses the factory bolts to hold in place. How thick is it and wouldn't you think you would need longer bolts to make up the difference so that you have the same amount of thread making contact or is it so minimal that I shouldn't even think about it? |

I Double-Dog Dare ARB to make one for the 8.25! Those things are beefy. I just hope they realize that there are hundreds of thousands of 8.25's running around under XJ's and KJ's. |

I just hope they realize that there are hundreds of thousands of 8.25's running around under XJ's and KJ's. Along with about half of the rest of Chrysler's current rear solid axle vehicles. Durangos, Dodge p/u's, minivans too, I'm sure.... isn't there one under the Nitro, even? |
