I have a 2004 Liberty. It has a scissor jack. There is a plastic holder the jack fits into. The holder had a thumb screw in it that holds the jack assembly to the floor. The thumb screw is there in the bracket ---BUT there is nothing in the floor to screw to. There is a hole there in the metal and carpet. The metal hole is about 3/8 inch - just a small hole in the metal floor and nothing else -- there is no nut or threaded area or anything for the thumb screw to attach to or screw into. All this is under the rear passenger seat. Could somebody please look or tell me what the heck goes into that hole that the jack bracket thumb screw attaches to. It is RATTLING and I think there is some little nut or plastic holder or something missing there............

Thank you for the help..

that hole in the floor under the passenger side of the rear seat should be threaded. I have never poked my head in to see whats in there but mine screws in just fine. 8)

that's where the jack holder/ screw threads into. are you sure the hole is not threaded? maybe take the screw out of the holder and see if threads in there. not sure, might be a nutzert (expanding nut) that fits in there. always possible that it was never inserted.

later,mike

Yea, there is a nut in that hole. Just stick that thumb screw in it and screw it in.

Sometimes it can be hard to get it all to line up. Just make sure you dont cross thread it. :)

Thanks for the advice. There is no nut on mine at all - just a round hole metal in the floor...no threads. I looked real good. Was not sure so I looked it up and parts says there is a "jack locator" there??? Had 2 - wjs and a TJ and this is my first Lib - so I don't know...bought it used and evidently there is something missing...Thanks.

Thats crazy. I guess its possible the nut is welded from the inside and the welds broke. :?

In both of my KJ's the thumb screw on the plastic jack carrier screws into the hole in the floor ... could they be using a nutzert and it has fallen off? Could be. Pretty sure the hole itself is threaded, though.

It takes a U-Nut, much like the one for the front tow hooks.
Size and OEM part Number
806101283 U-NUT, M8x1.25

Might have slipped off and fallen under the carpet.
