With all this rain, I've been driving around in 4WD (Full Time). It pulls hard to the right when I'm on the gas. Is this an alignment problem? If so, why only when power is directed to the front? Is the torque exaggerating an alignment problem?

someone correct me if I'm wrong but full-time is front axle and rear axle link and whatever slips the most it will grab, and then from that axle whatever tire slips the most it will grab. So based on that I would conclude you are pulling because most of your power is going to the right.

Check tire pressure :)

This just started to happen. I was on a major off road event last month, so I'm strongly suspecting alignment. But it still seems odd that power would cause a pull much more than no power.

I'll check the air psi again to be sure, but again, it's only when power is applied.

Oh, and regardless of conditions and traction, this happenes, so that kinda blows holes in your "power to where it wants it" statement.

My CJ use to do that if you only locked one hub. Would pull pretty darn hard too.

Well there you go Adam. Lock the other hub.

lol. I would say u just need an alignment. Dont really know how to explain it, but with the front end out of alignment, that means one tires is tured alittle more than the other, so that tire is always looseing traction. Therefore the tire starts to spin alittle and thats where u get ur pull. I may be totally wrong though?

It could be a power issue. If I am not mistaken, the right front wheel gets power with an open diff. This can cause the truck to pull to the right when you accelrate. This can be compounded by the truck being misaligned. This is similar to a front wheel drive car. It is called torque steer, my brother's Volkswagen GTI had alot of torque steer when I had a heavy right foot.

Yea, thats kind of what i was trying to say. I dont believe power is transfered to any tire, is goes to the tire with the least amount of grip, thats how an open diff works.

I think you might be more right than you know, LOL. Maybe a bad CV joint? bad hub? I'm honestly not familiar with the KJ's hub setup...I know my old Isuzu Trooper's front hubs were typical auto pieces. tossed 'em in the garbage when I swapped out to the warns.

anybody else like to shed some light on how these hubs work? Are they like the vacuum-operated hubs on the later model GM fullsize trucks?

KJ's don't have locking hubs, the entire drivetrain is always spinning.

I'm embarrassed to say it seems to have been air psi unequal.

This thread will self destruct in 5 seconds to avoid further embarrassment!

It was that little box on the right on your options sheet at time of purchase. $395 gets you an extra click on the shifter.

Amazing what an alignment can do for this stuff!

Firestone lifetime alignment $159. good anywhere in US, anytime. My toe was so far out on both sides that the wheels were each fighting to turn out.

All better now.

So you stubbed your toe and it made you turn to the right? Must have been some trip!

sorry....it's late at work on a Friday night and my brain is shot.

Liberator84 - you have the Command-Trac transfer case. It does not have a Full Time 4wd option, only the Selec-Trac does. Selec-Trac is only available on automatic transmission and only then if you pay for the option.
