Ok, I have a 3" RC lift. I upgraded to CRD springs, and rancho RSX struts.

The Front end seems to be lower than it used to. I havent added anything to the front.

Could blown struts have something to do with the additional sagging?

would extending my bumpstops fix the RC strut blowing problem?

Al's Upper A-Arms are in my near future.

also would a Front Frankenlift save me money versus extending bumpstops, buying new struts and upper A-arms?

I am not sure how to start
EVERY spring will settle some ,some more than others depending on weight and geometry
are the struts bad? how do you know or what makes you think they are?
The guys at Skyjacker recommended limiting straps to avoid damaging their coil over kit when I talked to them
a good while back but the rancho struts should be OK at max drop
now if you are some how bottoming out the strut before you hit the bump stop then that is your problem
the strut is not made to hold 1/2 the weight of the jeep
if you run a frankie then you will want new upper arms so that cost is a non issue
I would recommend them if you are running that much lift ,can not hurt but they have no bearing on weather it will
sag or not

so the spring took over a year to settle? The struts dont obviously appear to be bad, simply a hunch.

The way the crappy RC lift is designed the strut will top out before the bumpstop reaches the upper A-arm.

so... just extend my bumpstop and replace my struts, and new upper A-arms?

or get a front Frankie and new upper A arms?

Basically I just want more lift in the front.

Climb on that arb, start hopping up and down, then jump off. If your front keeps bouncing more than twice, your strut is shot.

Struts damper the bounce, not hold up the vehicle.

Going higher generally requires Jeepin Al's A-Arms.

Another option would be using the new OME CRD 500 lb. rate coils with perhaps a clevis lift.
I e-mailed All J's awhile back to see if this was feesable for a heavy gaser with ARB/winch and Heather replied, they had done some and were working well. She did not state if it was just the coils alone, or a front CRD Frankin lift.

If you want to go higher and have the money, Jeepin By Al's is using 450 lb. rate coils in the front on their 4" lift kit. You will need to shave 3/8" off the face of the inner CV's though.

I may just have to go with the OME CRD springs. I take it they are stiffer than the Stock CRD springs. and I little bit of clevis.

Im only looking to gain about 1/2" -1" of lift in the front, mainly to try and even it up with the rear.

Yes, 90 lbs. heavier than the stock CRD 410 lb.

I'm guessing you should get around 3" with a small clevis, (3/8" = 3/4" lift) and the OME CRD's. If you try going any higher you'll need the A-Arms for sure.

All J's has the OME 790 500 lb. rate front springs for $155.00 per pair.
(909) 866-3700 info@boulderbars.com

Conduit nuts don't work well with Rancho's or the stock struts, they work with OME struts, just measure 3/8" and torque to 100 ft. lbs.

KJ04, dont want to go against what you said I know you said they dont work well, but I have the Ranchos and using conduit nuts, no problem at all , the little piece that sticks out (lip/ear whatever) conduit nuts slide up over that so you just put a couple of extra on. For example if they would of held at the little lip I would have 2 below that so in that case i have 4, two are above the little notch/lip and two below.....hope that sort of makes sense. Keep hearing that you cant and I am here to say with a bunch of miles on mine (over 45000 on the lift) you can

Hey Tom, I'm aloud to be wrong.

I didn't have any luck using 3 of them with my Rancho's, as they twisted on an angle, and didn't sit flush. I then pulled them out and just measured and tightened. Maybe I was using brand X instead of brand Y conduit nuts.

I'll have to check yours out when you come for the TrXus.

so yall dont think the conduit nuts would aggrevate the common strut failure associated with the rough country lift, since it is a strut spacer...

You're going to remove the RC clevis spacers and replace them with the OME coils and just a small 3/8" clevis to get a 3/4" + boost in lift, so it won't be anything severe.

ooook didnt catch that the first time... so-

the billet aluminum spacer is gone.

The OME coils go in, with a small amount of clevis. and this should acheive the extra front lift im desiring.

So are these springs longer than stock coils or just stiffer?

sorry I'm pretty slow on this one, i was under the impression of using the OME coils with the RC spacer, AND some clevis lift...

OME coils supposed to give you close to 2" by themselves, it depends. They are a lttle taller and a lot stiffer than stock. you will get more lift with stiffer springs, so if you are using the CRD springs on the gaser you will get a little higher. By going what I know about OME, with CRD springs and 3/8" clevis lift you should get around 2 3/4' lift. I said around because you can get more or less it depends how bad your old springs were. there is not exact formula to figure out the exact lift so its all guessing.

My springs shoudn't be that bad, I have already upgraded from stock. I just measured the amount of lift I need to even things up.

Front 21 1/4" from centercap on wheel, to fender flare

Rear 22" from centercap on wheel, to fender flare

so I need to grab 3/4". Could i acheive this with a clevis lift, or would that not be wise?

It all depends on how much lift you want to gain exactly. It would be hard to get 3" (measuring from stock) of lift with OME CRD springs and clevis. You might come pretty close though. You could try OME CRD springs, clevis lift (3 rings per side is safe enough I heard) and rustys strut plate and you should be able to get that much lift. Im just guessing here so I could be wrong on the height but that is how Im doing my front lift with my new OME HD springs.
