Post subject:  I want a 4:1 lo range

This is in response to a question I asked when I submitted my response to the NV/NP survey I posted yesterday. These guys are quick!

Quote:
Ron,
There are two options, change to the NP241OR that is used the current Rubicon, or the Teraflex teralow 231HD. Tera's product is a new front case assembly with the 4:1 low (disassemble the 231 and build with this new front section). The 241OR is a replacement transfercase that has the same mounting and input gear, but different outputs and length than your current 231, thus requiring prop modifications. At Magna we would like the Tera product to have greater durability, but Tera indicates many people successfully using their product.

For the new company we have proposed to management (and they seem likely to go ahead this year) New Process Gear Performance Products is planning a variety of optionable low range kits in the second year, and customizable 241OR's. We will also be looking at greater range ratio options as well.

Thank you for your interest and response,
-Steve

Ron - I'm forwarding your question to Steve who would be better-suited to answer. Thanks for your question.

Subject: Magna Powertrain NP/NV Survey

Hi, my name is Ron. I was hoping I could get an answer to a question that I ask in this survey that our 4x4 club president posted on our web forum. In particular, is there a 4:1 bolt-in replacement for the NP231 t-case? Thanks.

Unless someone has a solution, using the NV241OR also reverses the transfer case shifter pattern. Forward (down) position is 4Lo while pulled back (normal 4 lo pos) is 2wd operation.

That would be confusing for awhile!

But beneficial to me, and I'm sure some of you. My long legs have more than once bumped the shifter out of 4-lo while rocking in the jeep.

You can get the AtlasII t-case,3.8,4.3,5.0,and 6.0 ratio's.Or you can go to the Atlas 4 speeds with ratio's all the way to 10:1.

Twin sticks is going to be cool!!!!!!!!

Yep, for the money I would MUCH rather have an Atlas!! My hope/plan would be to take the 3.8 Atlas out of the EB, swap the input and put it in the KJ and get a 4spd Atlas for the EB!!
They are killer TC's and NO Chain. By time you do a Tera 4to1 and shortshaft, you 2/3 of the way to an Atlas....
