When I went to take my KJ into the shop to have the rear axel rebuilt, I noticed the check engine light was on and the speedometer did not register any speed. The P0500 code is a Speed Sensor malfunction.

My rear axel was getting a rebuild from my Powertrax NOSLIP blow up $@#X&   . I had to drive it to the shop in 4 wheel drive since the ring and pinion was shot. There was no drive power from the rear axel. The front did all the work to get me to the shop.

Where is the speed sensor located? Should I have the shop look into it or should I expect it to start working when they are done rebuilding the axel.

They are replacing the ring & pinion and putting in a Detroit Locker. They are also doing all seals and bearrings to.

When they rebuild it it should be OK then. But thats where your problem is now, just like Blake said! or at least thats the logical answer right now
