Post subject:  lift & wheel alignment
i will be installing a 2" lift. when saying that the wheel alignment needs to be done afterward, is it the toe-in, camber & castor angles? all of them or just some/which of the above?
also, the rear shocks will be replaced with oil-filled shocks, whilst the front will remain OE. is this going to cause any issues?

After I installed the Rustys 2.5" lift I had a total alignment done. It drove fine right after the lift install, and after the alignment the measurements were only "slightly" off. The dealer only charged me half-price because it was so close to the standard measurements.

As for the shocks....hopefully someone else would know. :idea:

Dont know how many miles are on your KJ but if it were mine I would go ahead and change out the struts while you have it apart, why lift it now and in 5/10,000 miles tear it down to replace them then. Do it once and do it the right way then.
As far as the alignment goes it affects all of the above.

I have 2 inch daystar lift with stock struts and shocks. had it installed when my KJ was 18 months and 24k miles on it. Could only get alignment close at first, had it done again 2 months later from a better alignment guy and am very happy with it now. most have found that you need to let it settle after the lift is installed.

Like tommudd says, if you might need new struts, now is the time to do it. Shocks are easy to change anytime.

IMO i would change them out while its apart. With the longer springs your going to have a lot more force put on the struts. Might as well replace them with something that can handle all the extra stress a lift puts onthe suspension.
