My ABS light has been on for awhile now from wheeling one day and I read that it may come on from the tires slipping but it would soon reset.. How can I reset the ABS light, what could be wrong? I think its something with the rear brakes what should I check and or replace to try and fix the ABS? when I lock up the brakes the ABS acts like it wants to work but it doesn't. Should I just take it in and hook it up to the diagnostic? i have tried to reset the computer but the light stays on. Let me know what you guys think.. Thanks, Wes |

Usually if you go to Auto Zone they can hook it up and give you a code for free. Call a dealer and give them the code to see what's up. Could save you a diagnostic charge. |

I would look under it to see if any broken wires or anything pulled off around the wheels, brake areas, bet you find it that way Tom |

Most cheap OBD scanners wont read a DCX ABS code. You need a DRB III scanner. And if its a bad sensor, it may throw a bad CAB code too, but replace the $25 sensor first before droppping $700 on a new CAB like the dealer will convince you to do. |

My old ford Ranger would turn on the ABS light when ever the rear breaks would get caked with mud I have no clue why but EVERY time I would go wheelin they would get caked with mud and I knew what I needed to do ,clean them it had sucky rear drums too so I had to remove the wheels and the drums then clean with pressure washer put it all back on and drive until it was dry ,turn of and then back on and it was happy no more ABS light I would try to clean it real good and look for damaged parts first |

Thanks, Wes Does your odometer work? I have had the rear diff speed sensor replaced 3 times under warranty. ABS, brake warning lights and stopped odometer were the common factor. |
