I had mine done at All J's and I paid just over 1K for the lift and I believe 350 give or take a few for install, I also had Al's arms put on, which was I think 85 since the suspension was already apart for the lift |

Man I should go into business. I think that is rediculous since the front struts come already assembled with the Frankie, unlike other kits. And reassembling the front struts is what makes doin a lift a P in the A! Took me and a buddy bout 5 hours to put my rusty's lift on and that is doing the struts ourselves. Shouldn't take about more than a lil over three hours to do a Franken lift if you are a decent mechanic and know what your doin. So that would put the labor charges at $146.57 an hour for 3.5 hours. Too much in my opinion. I would never pay that. |

$90 for an Alignment is insane. I paid $30. $513 is more than I paid for my entire OME lift. |

after your guy's talk about the labor being that expensive I gave him a call. I told him that you guys said that was really high. So I asked him how much labor costs was. $114 a hr for labor. So he was charging me for 4.5 hrs of labor. I asked him if it was subject to change. He told me absolutely. I also mentioned to him that the kit is also pre assembled. He told me if it was pre assembled then 4.5 is to high. It was pretty much the max that it would run. But I just ordered Al's A-Arms. One step closer. |

Eddo, Moose and I put my Rusty's together in 2 hrs and 15 min. Dont forget, Rusty's struts were NOT pre-assembled. It only cost me their dinners at the local Mexican joint. Lots of LOST members will help with the install. I think shop costs are just too high. |

Not defending shops but they need to make money like everyone else, labor rates vary greatly depending on where you live so to one person a $114 per hour labor rate may seem high and may not to others parts of the country.Back home in SD the average rate is $90 per hour for mechanical,$50 for frame time,$75 per hour for body work, and $65 per hour for paint and that's in SD.Now also take into account that the mechanic does not get that whole amount, the shop gets about 50%-75% of that labor rate for there overhead. |

CAR X charged me $325 to install my OME springs and Rancho and OME struts and shocks. I dropped it off in the morning on my way to work and picked it up at lunch, that price included the alignment too. |

Hey there, Your shop called me for pricing and I told them $996 and change for the Frankenlift kit plus $48.60 to ship it. I informed them that we charge a flat rate of $350 to install the lift kit so he would have a good comparable rate to charge you. But as said before, different areas have different service rates. $114 seems on the high side for me.....are they mainly an import specialist shop? It will most likely take a shop about 4 hours to install the kit if they have never installed this kit before and have only one mechanic working on it. We install the kit in about 2.5 to 3 hours, then we test drive the KJ and do an alignment the old fashioned way. Everything is included in the $350 install cost except tire clearancing. If the owner bought larger tires and wants us to swap in the larger tires for them and to do the trimming for them, that's another $85. If you decide to come down from San Francisco -- not too far since we got a call today from a really nice guy who is planning on driving to us from NEW YORK and a couple of weeks ago we had another really nice guy drive in from Iowa -- we'd be happy to install the Frankenlift for you for $350. Plus you can do some skiing or snow boarding while you're here. Either way, you'll be very happy with your Frankenlift! |

I never installed a KJ lift before Wednesday, and it took me and another guy about 2 hours total. most labor-intensive part was removing the battery tray, getting my radio presets back where I had them, and finding the ONE nut that I lost while reinstalling said battery tray. $90 isn't incredibly high for an alignment, IMO, because they KNOW everything is gonna be outta whack. But if that $90 includes any kind of warranty, take it back in two weeks after the springs settle. |

x2 on that - installing a Frankenlift can easily be done by two people while watching a football game. If I remember correctly it takes a 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 21mm sockets, some extensions, and a torque wrench. There's very good instruction and torque values on this site, and in the end you'll probably spend more time researching the lift and its installation than putting it on. My advice is to install it yourself, or see about arranging a mod day with some other Jeepers in your area. For the price of some pizza and beer you could have the lift put on by folks who have probably done dozens, if not hundreds, of lifts. Plus you'll know how to do the 100 mile re-torquing, which I would consider absolutely vital, yourself. |
