HELP!! It's seems I can't find a good mechanic here in North Jersey to figure out & fix this problem. While driving(of course),it starts out as a "thumping" sound-like a military helicopter (Huey??)the faster I go the more pronounced the vibration is. This sound also is worse in the winter rather than summer.
This problem began in the winter of 06 & has become worse. I have no other modifications done except what i have listed, the rest of the Jeep is stock. One 4-wheel drive center looked at it and said: "It's too high, tires are too big-thats what your problem is". GIVE ME A BREAK!! One thing he did say was that the Y-Link bushing is shot. I currently have it at another mechanic(has had it for 3 days) & he wants to try putting my stock tires on to see if the larger tires are causing this extreme vibration/thumping noise. This guy is trying very hard at this point to help me out so I'm going to stick with him until he gives up. Hopefully he won't "rape" me in diagnostic costs.
I have spoken to Jeff Daniels Jeep Customizing in Harleysville, P.A. (2 hours from me) and I'd like to just get my Jeep there already!! At this point I must wait it out with this mechanic because he IS trying.
If anyone out there has a solution to this problem
PLEASE HELP and I can pass it along to my mechanic. This is NOT AN EXTREME LIFT on my Jeep!! I just would like to get it fixed.
I'm not that mechanically inclined(I work with fiber optics), so i don't know what modifications are required & where to obtain the parts. I need guidance. I would like to "Prep" it for the 4" lift by JBA but at this point I'm afraid of what new problems may arise.
