Well I went wheeling yesterday to test out the new tires (pics/info in the pictutres section soon) and I had some horrible rubbing in the rear. I know TJKJ has experience with solving this problem

where can i get longer rear bump stops? also will this end that possibly with out ripping the flares off? any other trimming that would be benefical?

one of the cheapest fixes is the hockey puck bump stops (3 stacked should work). there have been a few discussions on here about that. some drilled holes through them and bolted them to the lower spring perch, one guy just used heavy duty double sided tape.

this is something i have to do as well as i get rubbing when stuffing.

but it will definately help with not tearing off your flares, plus, you don't want to compress the rear shock too much and destroy them.

Edit: here is a thread with some talk of the hockey pucks and daystars

I have the same problem, I'll be throwing a couple extra isolaters in the rear. Hope it will be enough.

Rock Lizard has an article about how to do it on a XJ, same sort of process though

isolators wont help, you need something to prevent the spring from compressing completely.

I have 3" bumpstops that came with my SkyJacker kit.As far as trimming I removed the rear inner liners,Trimmed the door part of the flare back to the rubber seal.the other part of the flare I trimmed to the edge of the body sheet metal, the front part of the sheet metal fender well(where the door seals against) is pounded in and rounded so no sharp edges are present.

Would have some pics but it's snowing right now and dark. When I fully stuff my 265's(on 16x7 rims with 4.5" BS) I only touch the bottom of the front flare that is on the rear doors, very little touching,no noise and I don't rip the flare off either.

Just wondering, but why would you want to compromise that much flex for bigger tires? Doesnt that kinda cancel itself out?

I can fully stuff my tires without need of extended bumpstops. I can also fully flex the front without tearing the flares off.

my 265's didnt rub at all in those pictures.. (at full stuff hitting the bump stops) but now since the springs settled they rub just a really small about in the rear at full stuff.. not enough for me to be worried about though.

not much flexing to be done in the mud. I am not in an enviroment that would greatly benefit from a large amount of atriculation.
