One helluva ride! Is it just me, or does the KJ really suck on ice? I wonder if it's just a tire problem, Or a weight problem. I plan on getting some BFG KO's, But wonder if the ice traction will be any better? |

Worse yet... They are the Eagles. They have ZERO off road rating... I cant believe these came stock on this 4x4. This current setup is MALL RATED for sure |

SR-A's are horrible. They are pretty bad in the rain, too. Might look at the Nokian Vattivas. They are making a name for themselves. |

A tire with siping is the key to decent traction on icy surfaces. I bet the revo's would be better than stock, but not the best. Of course, buying a set of tires is all about balancing the conditions that you drive in equally and honestly. |

my mom has Cooper Discoverer ATR tires on her Grand Cherokee. They're not much for off-road, but they are awesome in snow, ice, and rain. The ride comfort and noise level is really good too. I towed my KJ on a tow dolly through light snow, wet roads, and a little ice with her Grand on those tires and it was great. |

If you can afford them, get winter tires for ice. Your life is worth a few hundred dollars, right? So, put off that next mod and get some tires that are designed for winter use. You will be amazed at the difference between driving tense and puckered on ice with A/Ts, and driving in control of your KJ. I thought my A/Ts were good for winter, until I got these:
It really does make that much of a difference. |

I thought about getting another set of tires/wheels and change them out for the type of driving i am doing, But i have not actively searched out some wheels in my area. ALSO Those snow tires are neat! hOWEVER, I dont feel it nessesary to buy these as the ice only comes in maybe twice a year, And i dont drive it everyday. Still wanting the BFG KO's though! |

ive never really had any problems out of the SR-A's, aside from their willingness to hydroplane in rainy conditions. theyve been great on all other road surfaces... even off road. |

i think that ice is generally unpredictable when it comes to driving so i try to not drive on ice, aka when the roads are icey i drive threw yards |

Your not supposed to play hockey with your KJ. If it ice then you had better change your driving habits or get some studded snow tires or better yet tire chains for the one or two times a year you MIGHT need them. |

My XJ came with the Eagles. They were the worst tires I've ever had on a Jeep. My KJ came with the Wrangler SRA's which were only tolerable for 1 year, but then became dangerous. I had Cross Terrains after that. They did very well on the road, and in ice and light snow, but terrible off road and wore quickly for their price. I went to Destination AT's after that. They were very good tires for the money. The best tires I've had so far are actually the Wrangler Silent Armors I'm running now. Everybody at my office was complaining about how terribly slick it was this morning, but I had absolutely no problems. Of course, they are severe snow rated with the mountain\snowflake symbol. I'm sure they're not as good as a dedicated snow tire, but I was impressed. |
