What is the general census on wheel spacers? Should I get rid of them? If I do...what off set is needed to kick the rim out of the wheel well? Do I go 16X7 or 16X8? Will it rub on the pinch weld with 245/75/16 with a 2.125" lift?

Help????

Stock wheels are something like 5.5" backspace. 1.25" (spacers) minus that means about 4.25", so a 4.0" BS rim is the closest BS you'll find available on most rims. Coincidentally, that is the most common BS for black steel rims people have on their KJ, at least that I've seen on this board. It gives you the least rubbing...any more (say 3.75" BS) is too much and won't stuff without ripping things off. Spacers or rims, it doesn't really matter as long as you put on your spacers correctly. Spacers are removeable, but they are one more thing to break...that said something else, probably in the stock suspension, would probably break first.

Keep the spacers and pound down the pinch weld.

You should be able to stick with the 16X7" rims and spacers with 245/75R16's. You will need to trim the plastic near the fog lamp doors, and pound the pinch weld flat. If you don't want to use the spacers, you can go to a set of rims off an '04-'06 Wrangler Rubicon that are 16X8" with 5" backspacing, or a set of AEV Bridgers in a 16X8" with +6mm offset. Just make sure the tires you get can handle an 8" wide rim. Some people go with a 255/70R16 on the 8" wide rims with really good results.

I'd say if it's legal to run spacers in your state then keep them & pound away. Save the cash for some other mod :D

You would get alot of rubbing on a rim that is 16x8 and has 4" BS. I get mild rubbing in the fog light area with my 3" lift with 245/70/16 tires mounted on Moab rims.

A 16x8 rim with 5" BS would be best if youre wanting get push the rims out of the fenders. You would have to pound over the pinch weld and mold/cut the area around the fog light if you want 245/75/16 tires.

Just added 1.25" Spidertrax to solve the front swaybar rubbing problem with my factory steel wheels and Firestone 245/70-16 Destination ATs.

The ride is SO MUCH more stable having the slightly wider stance. :D

It is better than it was stock height with 215/75-16s!!!
