So today I spent some time trying to get my collar on, and it only appears to make contact in two places (where the bolts are on each side)...

Is this normal? I assume it is not... So how would I go about getting this thing to fit? I really don't want to do to much of this myself because I am not a machinist, I'd much rather take it to a custom jeep shop and let them do it... How much would they charge?

sand paper or a grinder on the inside of the collar will work just fine. The collar is just a little bit under sized...

I had the same issue, Its close but not quite right.

I ground down the area adjacent to the opening on both sides just a bit to get it to fit. It only fit with the split at the bottom and top of the diff.

the one i got was a little bit smaller where the bolts were then on the other quadrant. (not circular) i had to grind it with a dremel and paint it because it was steel...

and the outside of the differtial isn't round - it's cast so -mine fit perfectly in one direction
and not at all when rotated 90 degrees.

tHERE'S A good idea Beep! Did you try rotating it? It might make it harder to get to the bolts but.......

No go... Looks like it's going to have to be sanded near where each halves meet each other... :(

Fits a lot better now, thanks guys... Now I just need to find the right tool to tighten the bolts down... I was using an 8mm allen wrench but the darn thing is too big to get any kind of turns out of it...

My plan is to use a little thumb driver and an 8mm hex bit... but I have to go buy the bit so I can't do it until probably Friday after work or this weekend when I plan on attempting the installation of Rusty's strut spacers...
