Hey everyone, Tommudd just installed some hood louvers on his KJ and wanted me to post some photos.

The louvers were originally on or designed for the Pontiac GTP

Dang that was fast Sean! I tried them straight with the center of the hood but it didnt look right to me, so angled them with the sides
TOO LATE now to change,  ran to Lowes for some stuff and you can feel heat coming up out even though its only 32 here today!!
Oh couldn't move them back any further due to bracing in the rear section of the hood.
Let the flaming begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tom

I actually like them, it adds some more character to it. Id like to get a long triangular louver to go into the groove on the hood, make it look kinda like the ridge in an animals nose

I have the address of a guy who can do 3 inch wide louvers , like the old hot rods used to have, he may be able to do some for you all the way front front to back, would be different! Mold it in and make it look factory!

Will air go in or hot air out? If hot air out, I wonder how much, if any, it will help keep the windows from freezing over while driving. Any pics of what it looks like under the hood?

Very nice looking setup now.

How long did it take to cut the first hole?

Looks great, did you create a measurement template for the holes? I like that placement a lot! You know I got some of those in route to go with the headers and new intake.... Too bad I got to wait 6-8 months to even think about the installs.

Yes I think I heard a set was on the way  I made a cut out/pattern last night, I can give you the measurements when you need them, just let me know. I had them on straight with the center of the hood, about 3 inches from center , but didnt look right at all, finally ended up with this.

Hot air comes out for sure, had to run to Lowes about 10 minutes away and when I got out I put my hand over the holes and you could feel the hot air coming up out, will see what it does out on the road tomorrow.

sleeve...you know the old saying measure twice cut once, today it was measure 18 times cut once hoping to heck it was going to turn out OK!

Looking good,my vents will be here on monday(at least they better be) and I plan on installing them on wed.Got mine from run cool though, the 9"x14" high flow ones. For some reason I love that rivited look, though I'll be using stainless button head bolts instead of the rivits for a cleaner look.
