Which backspacing will be better?

3.75 or 4.5 is there really going to be that much of a difference?

Get the 4.5" BS,the 3.75" BS will rub like crazy even with a lift.

You basically have 4.25" of BS with your OEM rims and spacers so 4.5" will be tucked in about 1/4".I ran 16x8 rims with 3.75 BS,you'll be fine as long as you don't really flex alot offroad otherwise you'll be ripping your rear flares off often. After I moved to CO and the first trail I did I ripped my rear flares off and promptly got 16x7 rims with 4.5" of BS to cure all my rubbing and ripping my flares off.You may get a little more room with those 3.75" BS rims if you stay at a 7" rim and no bigger then a 245/75 tire, but a 8" rim you'll be hating life if you flex alot offroad.I had no problems in the front as I have the ARB bumber.

i want to run true 31inch tires and i have 245's on there now. i really dont know the best way of doing this lol..

I'm guessing this is the look you're wanting.

This is the results of that look after off-roading.

That's why you limit B.S. to 4.5" on a 7" rim and 5" B.S. on an 8" rim with a 31" tire when you off-road.

Those are 31x10.50x15 tires on 15x8 steel rims with 3.75" backspacing. The lift is 2.5". Perhaps a bit less because my springs are beat. Does ok for mild trails. Rubs pretty bad on anything good. Haven't ripped a flare off yet though! I didn't want them to stick out quite that far, but I got the wrong wheels from 4WheelParts.

problem you will have with a 15" rim and more than about 4" of back spacing is that the rim will hit the outer tie rod
trust me that is what happens when I try to fit my OE TJ rims on the KJ

best thing to do with a KJ is keep the OE wheels
lift it and put on 245/75 tires
all we have is OME lift and with the OE wheels all I did to an '03 was "adjust" the fog lamp door and pound the pinch
if I put in about 1" of rear bump stop spacing I will have NO rub
