Post subject:  muffler question

hey guys, havent been around lately.my wife now drives the liberty and i have since stopped modding it and moved on to another mustang.anyway, she didnt like the deep throaty sound of the 4wd hardware exhaust i had on it so i took it off.i pit on a 2.25 inch walker muffler that i found on ebay.it was new but did not specify what vehicle it was for.but hey it was only 17 bucks.now since my wife has been driving ,she gets horrible mileage.she does not travel that fat to work.she filled the tank yeterday morning and went to work.we then went out to dinner not far from the house and almost a half a tank is gone.something does not seem right.it was never that bad when i had it.could it be the muffler is contributing to this?i just had her tuned up and everything else is in good working order.anyone have any ideas?

Fill it up and calculate by hand what its getting.

If its getting over 15mpg then everything is probably fine. Its winter.

If its lower than that(by alot) then I check that muffler to make sure somethings not wrong with it.

Check engine light on? I'd look at the catylitic converter first before the muffler.Fuel filter? Clean air filter? No holes in the gas tank?Bad gas guage or sending unit?

By the way the KJ's muffler is 2.5" in and 2.5" out.
