Diff covers avaliable?

i searched but didnt find much. are there any quality diff covers being currently produced? from what i read most of the covers for the 8.25 right now are junk or are discontinued/not made. i just replaced the diff fluids today and realized what a piece of junk the stock cover is, with the rubber plug and very thin construction. now that i changed it im worrying about leaks, especially around the rear fill plug, i did use a gasket with black ultra rtv.

but in the near future i would like to get a lubelocker gasket and a nice/more solid cover for peace of mind

so if there is a quality cover currently produced thats worth the money please let me know

yea i have seen that one but a few people said they have had some leak problems with it.

i just found this on another site, last post,and it was pretty recent in late feb 08, i guess crane is back in business and have 8.25 covers. so ill have to give them a call!

i guess the crane, SOLID, and rockcrusher diff covers are all highly recomended and pretty similar. then theres the awesome ARB one which hope they make, but the crane one will be good enough for me to replace the stocker

I have bought from them recently,very quailty stuff.I also had the pleasure of meeting and conversing with the new owner,a very great guy and knows his stuff about wheeling and Jeeps.He built USAFCOP's and my HP44's(USAFCOP's 9" also),did a great job and very reasonable prices for outstanding work.

No idea,sorry,probally much cheaper straight from them then any off there vendors though.

Oh and don't let the owner(Josh) see any off his stuff painted orange,he really razes you about(just for fun,not serious),had to have my Crane knuckles re-drilled and tapped for larger studs and they where painted orange,the trade mark color of one of his biggest competitors.Paint it green,he'll like it(he even will sell you the correct color of green paint also :lol:

I have one of the BTF covers sitting in my garage waiting to go on the rear. Ruff Stuff 8.25 diff cover was the one that a few people have said had leak problem. I have not heard of anything bad about BTF product in the past.

You're right about the RuffStuff covers leaking before. However, I bought one from Dan directly this summer, and it has been flawless for me. I'd recommend them.

Plus, they appear to be on sale now - $95.

I have a Rock Crawler diff cover from Warrior Products for my YJ's Dana 30 axle. Wouldn't it fit the Libby's Dana 30C? I guess it would depend on the bolt pattern.

All it will do is protect the diff cover from a puncture. I think the main problem with a Libby's Dana 30C is that its made of aluminum.

The KJ has a D30A,and no a aftermarket cover will not fit on it due to one of the mounting brackets would be in the way.No need for a aftermarket diff cover for the D30A anyways,that's what your front skid is for.

I am amazed that one is not available from one of the big dealers. Not sure how long the 8.25 has been around but I know alot of the Xjs run them.

I purchased a Ruff Stuff cover from Rock Lizard, just recently checked it for leaks and found one so I called Dan at Ruff Stuff directly (nice guy). He is on his way, sending me a new unit, and relying on my honesty to return my leaking one. If anyone has one with a leak, please call Dan, he will make good. This is a VERY sturdy cover and I am looking forward to getting the new one in the mail

. Sounds like he just had a bad welder in the beginning. Lets all give him the chance to correct the leak problem. I'll let you know how mine turns out. By the way, they are on sale right now. By the way, I purchased this cover a long time ago and just recently got around to installing it.

Direct bolt on.

Been running the Crane for 3+ years. It's a heavy duty cover. It takes a bit more gear oil, so plan accordingly. Only problem i've had is that a couple allen head bolts have got a bit stripped from not seating the allen wrench all the way in.

(add Lube locker too, makes it easier to change out the next time.)

Direct bolt on.

The CRANE looks great. Does anyone know if the CRANE increases the gear lube capacity over stock? Do they have a magnetic dipstick or just a filler plug?

Riddler MFG lists "DC 8.25 RD825 - coming ‘07". Call 'em up, they're available here and there.

Wow, we have choices now! When it rains, it pours! ARB is suppose to be coming out with a diff cover also. Hmmmm, maybe we should start a poll! :wink:

Yeah, i did a little reading on the ARB and it looks really solid (as w/all their products). Interesting thing about their dif cover is they claim the design is such that it strengthens the axle. i already have a poison spider rock ring and i love it. Else i would probably consider the ARB.
