A large portion of my front fender wells have been trimmed away and there are exposded components such as the back of the fog lights and the washer bottle. If I don't protect them they're gunna be seeing a lot of salty mist at the beach this season! So i'm wondering if I should give all those exposed components a quick shot of undercoating..Anyone here ever done this before? Is there a special technique? How much of that inner area do you think I should cover with uncercoating? Any areas to avoid covering with it? Also, I'm a little unsure of what product to use..I did a search on google and "AeroPro Paintable Undercoat" spray looks like it would do the job http://www.autobodybrands.com/aeropro/s ... nt_uc.html Any thoughts would be greatly-appreciated guys, thanks!

(Here's a photo of my front left fender..you can't see all of the exposed components but you get the idea)

That little hole, I wouldn't worry about it.

I wouldn't worry about it since the KJ front ends are 90% plastic.

You may want to hit the fog lights with a rubberized coating, something to protect the connections if you're going to be throwing sand/water directly on them.

May i ask a question, why do so many people seem to pound and trim stuff just to go from 235 to 245 hardly seems worth the trouble ,or is it because there is more tyre choice in that size, :?

For the longest time, we KJers were getting the MTR tires and MOAB wheels off Wrangler Rubicons. The 245/75/16 tires were perfect for the lifted liberty - with a little trimming.

Anymore, the aftermarket wheel of choice is the Cragar soft 8 (similar to the MOAB wheel). The backspacing tends to put the rubbing smack dab in the middle of the pinch seam and fog light door.

I just bought a set of 5 Moab rims for my JK and planning on getting either the MTR's or general grabbers at2 at 245/75/16
Most likely gonna pound the crap out of my pinchers. I allready got my heat gun to melt down and smooth the plastic covering my pinchers.

Seems how I got the Frankenlift II on and new moabs, and also the terriable hits I have taken about my tire size that I wanted, I went with the big boy toys. 245/75/16
Here is where I was being hit about the tire size. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=30734

Good question Jimmy.

I cannot get the tires I want in 245/70..only in 245/75. Cooper S/T.

I have 245s on my stock setup and there is no rubbing, no pounding, and no trimming needed. with a lift....go crazy on the size, but at stock, I have zero rub anywhere...not even close to the pinch weld.

There is a difference in the 245/70/16's and the 245/75/16's.

You do not need to do any trimming with the 245/70's on a stock or lifted rig. If you get rims with less BS then you will probably need to trim on a stock liberty if you use 245/70 tires.

I just cut my front but a tad more so the 32" BFG Mud Terrains wouldn't rub. I sprayed rubberized undercoating over exposed fog lights. The reason you have to trim is mine weren't rubbing on street but cantilevered off road, that's a different story! [i]Joe

now take your truck down a trail where the suspension has some decent flex going on and im sure your story will change
