| Post subject: | Frankenlift Problem |
THi I am from South Africa and imported towards the end of last year a Frankenlift II Premium Kit. This was based on a lot of information I got from the LOST KJ website. There is an amazing amount of information here In Jan-08 I had the kit installed and within the first 300 miles both the front poly spacers (top) cracked and started to disintegrate. this happened without taken it off-road. The kit came pre-assembled and so it could not have been wrongly installed by us. All J had no problem in shipping replacement parts. Over the Easter week-end I did an Overland trip consisting mainly of gravel roads and the occasional sand driving (4x4 engage). On my return I had found that the left poly spacer again broke. Has anyone here experienced anything like this? If so, what can I do to rectify this? Apart from the above problem, the kit is amazing and it was definitely the right choice. I think I am the first one in South Africa that had imported it so far but the interest is growing. Many thanks for the great web site. Keep up the good articles and information sharing. |

hmmm, thats the first I have heard of that happening. Since the first 2 cracked, i would have thought it was probably a manufacturing quality issue in that batch of spacers. But since the replacement cracked too I'm not to sure what it could be........... |

Yeah, I had the same problem last year when I first got mine. Heather and Quinn at AllJ's were great about working with me to get it resolved. Turns out it was a bad run of spacers, but after having torn it down multiple times, I asked them to use the Daystar spacers that were in the original Frankenlift instead of their custom built ones. I have had no problems since then. |

With regards to the daystar spacers, would it still give me the same height? Is there any eason why one cannot make a replacement spacer from say Aluminium or any other hard composite? Once I have taken everything apart, I will check the top metal plates. Maybe the bolts that's welded on have protruding edges that's not to kind on the spacers. |

That's right, the main spacer is between the bottom of the spring and the strut. There is a spring isolator at the top of the spring. As far as the Daystar spacer, it does give the same height. The main difference is that the Daystar does not have the integrated bumpstop. It uses a polymer pad that is held on with a hose clamp. Mine has worked great since I got it. |
