I found out poking around here on LOST that Stafford Manufacturing Corp. makes the right ID 2 piece split shaft collar. The Stafford part number is 8L309. They do not sell direct but through distributors. The collar will have to be ordered due to it's oddball size. I ordered mine last week and should have it next week. The place I ordered it from was nice enough to sell it back to me for what they paid. I know there are others on here that get the 3.5" ID collars and re-work them to fit better, but since I found the right ID to begin with (and I was not willing to re-work it myself  ) I just ordered one. The dimensions are as follows:

3 9/16" bore
5" OD
7/8" wide

Looks like this is the sole distributor in Canada:

PTM Industries,
Downsview, ON
M3J 3C7
416-736-4972

What is making this the wrong part? I did a search last week on this and the ID of 3 9/16" was repeated in many posts. I sure hope that is right. That was the part number emailed to me directly from Stafford when I inquired about the collar and Motion Industries (who I ordered it though) verifed dimensions/part number when they called about ordering it. If you put in the part number on the home page and look at the drawing of said part (lower right of the print in the "description box"), it shows being 3 9/16".

Let us know how it goes on. I've had this on my to-do list for a while too, so if yours works I'll go ahead with that one. Thanks for posting the contact info for Canada.

It just so happens that you are doing the same mods as I am around the same time. Gotta get the info out of my head while it is still fresh or it will slip away.....

Scott: all I know is that I put that number into their search box ( where you can search by part number) and a message popped up saying it wasn't a good number. I did a "copy" and "paste" of your number when I searched so I know I didn't enter it wrong. It could be that the number wasn't put into their search program. I even tried it twice. :?:

Hmmmm, let's see here....I clicked on the link to Stafford's main page in my above posting and tried the whole cut and paste thing...the search feature did not react at all! That's strange :? Now, if you manually put the part number in the search box and click go, it brings the print up that is linked above. Anyhoo, it looks like the right one dimensionally :D

I ordered mine from Kaman Direct. I chose the aluminum one (didn't want to mess with dissimilar metals). The ID was 9/16....this was 'too small' for mine. I had 1/16 taken off and it fit just right. Took 2 to 3 weeks to get it, then another week to have it ground down.

Well, just got the collar on. Like others, had to grind .020 off the ID just at the ends where the 2 halves meet so it fit snug all around as it was hitting the diff housing not allowing the collar to slip on (no matter where I placed the 2 pieces on the flange). Perfect fit with a nice gap between the ends. Put a thin layer of JB Weld on the inside of the collar to help isolate it from the aluminum diff housing with it being steel (black oxide coated) for electrolysis corrosion. It is not nearly as tight a fit around the collar as it looks in the picture. Used an allen wrench with an open end wrench around the allen to tighten. More than enough room. The bolt heads are on the top if the collar. Here is a pic...

From what I have read, you can twist them around on the housing to get the best fit possible. I got a 3 9/16 Ruland black oxide version off of the shelf at the local Kaman shop for $57.
