yep ned to have the frame sitting on 4 jack stands or you can do front then rear if you wish. have to have the tires hanging down.
Still going to go with that lift are you    :? :? :? :?

yep. my job isnt paying Frankenlift money. gotta go with what i got. i may get another job. anyway if i put jack stands under the frame rails, what keeps the tires off the ground. i've got a decent amount of suspension travel back there. and if i take the tire off when its up there, will the side just lower until the spring comes out or will i have something else to take off.

Which lift did you buy?

Recently I put a Rusty's 2.5" Offroad spacer lift on my Libby and found that when installing the rear spacer I needed to put the frame up as high as possible on jack stands and drop the axle to the ground. I used spring compressors to put the rear coils back in on top of the new spacers.

I had bigger problems installing the front spacers and wound up going to a local garage and hiring them to put it in. I found it was just too difficult for me to remove the strut let alone try to install it with a spacer on top.

Other people may have had better experiences to tell you about.

People still thinking they have to use a spring compressor for the rear springs, un    beleivable,
Jack up the rear so the tires are hanging down but off the floor, remove tires, remove top and bottom bolts on the shocks (I HOPE YOU ARE AT LEAST INSTALLING NEW LONGER SHOCKS) Use the factory jack to put in between the frame and the rotor to spread it apart on one side, remove old spring and replace with new or install spacer etc. do the other side and install new longer shocks.
Installing one of these cheap spacer lifts is very easy, just be prepared to do it all agin real soon

Spring compressor or scissor jack, well, that seems like 6 of one and half a dozen of the other to me :D. Not a bad idea if you don't already have compressor's.

I know I would rather use a spring compressor if I already owned one. Since I don't I used the scissors jack method and it worked like a champ. Really easy.

just all comes down to what you want to blow your money on  Me I thought I would only do mine and maybe one other KJ lift so didn't buy any spring compressors, but after doing 5 with another to do this weekend maybe I should of invested in a set. But most of the cheap ones that people use are too dangerous and you don't really need them

I hear that. I bought a cheap pair about 15 years ago when I had to replace the struts on an '89 chev sprint. This is the second time I've used them  although my brother is doing a lift on his XJ and may have to use them. Other than that, they're just 'there'.
