Post subject:  OME lift being installed tomorrow...

Well, I dropped of the Jeep tonight and it is getting the OME kit put on tomorrow.

Plus a new set of BFG AT KO's (245/75R16) (The 245/70R16 's are on huge backorder.)

So I pounded the pinch weld last night just in case it rubs. Plus it looks cool. I heated the plastic, cut it, pounded, painted and then used Mulco Thermo Plastic caulking ( I am a window and door guy) - black. Looks not too shabby for a guy who has never hurt his car on purpose before.

Also getting an alignment.

Pre-lift measurements (Sitting level in parking lot)

Centre of Hub To Flare:
Front: 18.25"
Rear: 18.75"

Ground To Flare:
Front: 31.75"
Rear: 32.25"

Rare Measurement, Ground to bottom of Mopar rock rails: 11 1/8" Rear

Can't wait to try the new ride!

I did mine over the weekend, was sitting at 32/32.75 (f/r) then added OME struts+ 1 ring clevis + HD springs I'm sitting at 34/35... Really looking raked, install wasn't terrible. Rides nice for not being broken in. Considering doing into the front again, added 1 -2 more rings / side, however judging by what I have now with an extra 1.6 inches lift(tires+ 1/4" clevis lift) my UBJ will be sitting at a pretty good angle as well as the CV's

I was under the impression that OME struts had a clevis attachment position 8mm lower than ranchos... Which if true should've resulted in ~.5" more lift up front (8mm = .3"*2= .6")

Just heard news about my Truck..

Lift is installed and apparently rides like a dream.

However,

Rubbing on front was so bad they removed the liners and left them in the truck. Still rubbing on Bumper.

Looks like my Mod days are just beginning. I guess I'll be starting up the dremmel this evenning!

I'll take pictures when possible. He says it looks great though.

What size tires did you go with that they had to remove the liners?

YIKES. I've got less lift and haven't had a reason to remove the fender liners, OR pound the pinchweld with 245/75-16s! Did you get new wheels too?

The Liner came out because it rubbed on the front right by the washer bottle on the passenger side and same area on the driver's side.
Once Removed, the tires STILL rubbed on the air dam and a little on the horizontal plane of the plastic bumper.

Sooo...I used the dremmel tonight to remove part of the air dam, and a tiny bit of the bumper. Actually, I found it quite fun, and it relieved the anxiety I was feeling (a little buyer's guilt).

I have the flares in the garage and I'll be trying to figure out how to trim them as little as possible before re-installing them. I can't leave them out, especially here in Canada (salt).

Might even drop into a body shop to see if they can help me out somehow. Not gonna worry about it, it'll be taken care of.

Anyway:

Tommudd: Tires are 245/75R16. I will be getting those bumpstops after all (likely just a homemade set in the rear) - Terraflex up front. I haven't had a chance to stuff anything yet, but I am thinking it will help to keep the tires from ripping off my fender flares, not to mention the added security of not stacking springs.

Also need to go to a dealer to get the "pinion" reset so the speedo and engine work properly again.

Post Lift Measurements:

Centre of hub to flare:
Rear: 21 1/4"
Front: 21 1/8"

Ground to flare:
Rear 35 5/8"
Front: 35 3/8"

Ground to Rock rail (rear): 14 1/2"

Here's some pictures from the garage. Night shots and it is raining.

I'll take some nice ones when it's sunny.

It looks and Rides AWESOME!!!! I am very happy with the way it looks and the ride is better than stock.

How can yours be level w/o a clevis lift, and mine is nose down WITH a clevis lift... and my rear end is only 3/8 inch lower to the fender w/ worn out 235/70's... this is getting confusing

Didn't you know KJs are like women, you can put 6 inch heels on all of them but some will still be a little taller than the others

Also how badly is the transmission acting w/o the pinion reset? Speedo is not a concern for me, however tranny acting funny is.

Author:  Uttles [ Wed May 14, 2008 10:12 pm ]
Post subject:

The transmission is not really that bad. I noticed that around 60 Km/h (notice the kilometer per hour part), it wants to go into overdrive. Not a big deal. However, the EVIC was having some fun, but once on the highway it read 16.5 Miles per gallon, which is pretty well what I would expect with the heavy tires and lift. So no worries.

Sorry about confusing you with numbers. They are what they are, I can't explain them, but i can enjoy them!

Don't forget my lift is like 8 hours old. So settling may change my rake and lift height.

Post subject:

lol it wont settle much since you have OME HD, mine barely settled in the front, and idk about the rear I have a 120# bumber that lowers it :x
