Post subject:  Head light problems

Good day from Beautiful British Columbia, Canada

Hello, this is Ryan and Jennifer. We have a problem with our daytime running light on the driver's side. The light wont work, we changed the fuse and it worked but by the next morning it was out again. We changed the fuse again, but the light still wont work. So now we changed the headlight bulb, still wont work. I have checked all of the fuses to make sure they work and they do. Any ideas of what the problem could be? If I have to take it to a stealership to get looked at they will charge me $95 just to take it in plus whatever the cost of the repair, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I almost forgot to mention, we have an '04 Sport. :?:
Thanks

It may be your multi-function switch. I had to replace mine under warrantee due to a lot of blinking LED lights for no apparent reason. The multi-f switch is the handle that you use to turn on your lights, interior light dimmer and turn signals. It's pretty well known for being buggy.

Thanks for the information. Do you know by chance if their is a way to tell forsure if it's the universal control without taking it to the dealer and if I can diagnose it myself how difficult would it be to fix without taking it to the dealer? I am trying not to take it to the dealer, they want to charge $95 just to look at it!

Try to trace the ways your wires are running, it could be a wire that has rubbed on some metal and pealed the wires coating resulting in a wire shorting out to ground. I've had it happen on other vehicles before patch an tape off wire and all way better later. They make a electrical tape that once heated as in heat gun or a lighter shrinks the tape. A real handy tool box item.

before you go pulling multifunction switches and wires. Replace the relay. MUCH cheaper fix and if it works...

Is the KJ under warrentee?

Goo day,
No, the warranty is now over! So the skilled hands of the wheelchair bound husband have to either instruct Jen what to look for and do or fold myself in 3 to try and get to places not meant for bodies.

I first thing I tested, replaced were the head lamp bulbs. I took the drivers side bulb and plugged it itno the passengers side headlamp plug- No problem- bulb works just fine. With bulbs switched sides and plugged back in (Making sure of course the the bulbs glass is free of dirt, greassy fingers. I pulled the "Daytime running light" relay.
(Upper right fuse panel {Inside car-passenger side dash board} the grey finned heat sink jobby) Plugged the new one in and nothing, reconnect battery, nothing. Unplug battery and go back and test fuses. all fuses fine! Then,Jennifer decides to just pull the head lamp fuse and see if replacing it would astually make a difference.
New fuse... Bingo! problem solved... for about 22 hours then no more DTR light on drivers side. Back to square one!

What is really rubbing me the wrong way is that I don't fave a Full Service Manual for this vehicle yet. 3-4 weeks delivery from local Stealership or 3-4 week delivery out of the U.S.A. So either way it's hurry up an wait!
So, I don't know which is the high beam relay, or if it is a "Left high beam relay or right high beam relay"
I imagine it is in the power distribution sentre under the hood-but which one.

Thank folks
