has anyone tried this yet and if so what are the mods that you have to do to get it to fit? alot of the XJ bumpers look better then what is offered for the KJ. if its just a matter of relocating the bolting mounts, then thats not a problem, but if it involves more, then ill just make my own. heres one for thought----

thinking about getting this one, any ideas or thoughts?http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=rustys&Product_Code=RA-PRE2-XJ&Category_Code=bum_rus

you would be able to but it would just be easier and look a whole lot better if you just made your own

As I have always said anything is possible with the right tools/shop OR a big wad of money to pay someone else to do it for you.
With that you would need to build some sort of mounting bracket that would tie that bumper into the KJ frame. as they are not exactly the same width, plus the bumper itself may be a little different width than what you can use and make look good. for that almost 400 bucks Rustys wants I think you could get someone o make one for you. Just had a guy quote me 575 for a rear bumper with tire rack and all the other day so front would be cheaper

just my 2 cents

Anything is possible but some things are better not attempted.
The mounting for an XJ bumper is Way different than how you would mount a KJ bumper, width is wrong, XJ has a flat front end to it & KJ is more rounded, How would you incorporate the turn signals?, How will it incorporate into the flares?, etc.

Too many variables to make it an easy project. You would be better off starting from scratch and maybe copying some of the design elements from the XJ bumpers that are out there.

That said, Rock Lizard Was looking at his basic XJ bumper design to mod on to the Kj but I have not heard any more about that for a long time. Of course he has the tools and skills to work out a project like that.

That is because they are all One-offs that nobody has plans to continue making. (or at least AFAIK they don't)

Yeah, if my KJ was a later model, I would be all over that stinger bumper on Daves black CRD.

well ive been thinking about it and came up with this. me and a friend of mine that i served with over in IRAQ, is gonna help me fab one up to meet that style on Daves Black CRD, or somewhat close. the style is what im trying along with the winch plate inside between the grill and bumper. we decided to go with 1 1/2 pipe and 3/8 plate for the skid. ive also came up with just buying the welding pieces for tow hooks that Rusty's have in the bumper section to match the 1 1/2 pipe. it will be easier i think and less frustration on my part. along with the winch plate, i think a saw an add for one that had a 10"x 4.5" bolt pattern, thats gonna be made formo 3/8 also.

but i also came to realize that with all this extra weight on the front end that im goona need to get some extra lift in the front to eliminate the sagging if any.
i was thinking about the metal pieces that Rusty's sell that go on the front on top of what i have now which is the Rusty's lift, but then i think im goon run into another problem with the bolts not be long enough.

what do you guys think. so far as i know right now, when i get back from this school for the Military at Camp Cook, LA, we are gonna get started on it and i should have pics up and running soon, well 3 weeks soon.

if your gonna add a winch you really need to switch out your coils to OME HDs
