Post subject:  Need new rear shocks. Rancho or OME?

Well, it's time to upgrade the rear shocks on my KJ from the crapy Rusty rear shocks. I now have a loud thump and know that I can put a washer it in to help (which I may do for the time being), but instead of doing to cheap easy fix I thought I might just shell out the money for some new rear shocks that actually fit right. Should I go with the RSX 17004 or the OME N132L's? Thanks for the help.

I run the OME so I say go with those, but either choice is a massive upgrade to what you have now. Rancho are less $$ too. The Ranchos are said to be a slightly rougher ride than the OME but still very nice.

After looking into this myself, I think you will find both will what you want. So the next question is cost.

Ranchos are not rough riding at all, like the ride, last a long time, cheaper than OMEs. If I had to do it all over again, I would still go with the Ranchos! Ask TJKJ he has run both

I know the Ranchos aren't rough. But rougher than the OME is all. Only "rougher" in relation to OME, still way smoother, nicer and better than Rusty's or stock. Maybe I should have said not as soft as OME.

If your KJ is heavy, lot's of armor in the rear, the Rancho's will give you a better ride then the OME's since the Rancho's(17004's) are ment for a heavier Dodge Durango. If your pretty light, stock with hardly any armor, the OME's will be the better ride.

I have run both and with my heavy KJ the Rancho's are a much better ride then the OME's.

I am running the OME N132's and they are better than stock
I would buy them again but in the N132L version and bump stop as needed

Like all things in life
You will get what you pay for

why do you need to add bump stops in the rear if you have the regular N132?

you dont
it's the 132L's that are Longer and require bump stop spacing

they are close enough to stock length that they will not bottom out at full compression with stock bump stop spacing

So if I go with OME, I do or don't need new rear bumpstops? Even thought they cost more, they will probably be the better choice for my libby as of right now I have no armor or a heavy rear bumper. Just stock back there for now. Thanks for the input.

N132L- longer bumpstops needed-$I dont know
N132-stock bumpstops works fine-$40 at Rustys

 yes to the bumpstops and Ranchos 2 hockey pucks per side

The Rancho shocks have nothing to do with the bumpstops. Your lift kit just raised your KJ 2.5" and now you need to replace that 2.5" gap with a bumpstop, or leave it like it is and contend with the rubbing when you stuff a rear tire. Entirely your choice!

I've attempted to use the search function, however, as we all know, it's not very good. Again, thanks for the help.
