Hi guys, long time no talk, very busy with new career. But tonight i got off work and went to the drag strip to watch some races and it was street legals tonight and not a lot of ppl showed up because it wasnt very warm out. So they asked if i wanted to put in a few runs, at first i said no but decided hey why not!?

So a 4x4 renne with A/T tires, flowmaster muffler, 200+lbs of work gear inside and a 200lb driver =?

Best run was a 17.440 @ 78.30 mph

Best R/T was a .287

This was my first time ever racing a 1/4. i go watch races all the time but never done it, its very fun. In total i ran 6 times and stopped there because i didnt want to abuse my jeep too much lol.

They were all around 17.4 and 17.5. One bad run of a 17.8 dont know why but very consistant runs lol. BTW i never won any of my races i was one of the slowest people there. There was a few people running 20 second runs but i never got paired up against them. Got paired up against a 12 second dodge magnum, boy did i look slooooow lol.

I have the time slips if someone wants to see i can post up tomorow

Very cool! So they still measure it off as a 1/4 mile up there?!?! I was expecting slower times than that so that is not all that bad.

lol yes 1/4 and mph too!

Im thinking i could get a 17.2 out of it if i took out all my work equipment, but oh well i was very happy with it.

I think you and the KJ did pretty good for a vehicle that was not built for the track.........now you should've challenged that Magnum to an off-road race...haha

That's not bad with the weight and heavier tires considering a stock KJ 3.7 is right about 17 seconds in the 1/4. You just need an APS stall converter, B&G flash, Fastman throttle body, 4.10 gears, and lighter tires to get down to about 14 seconds. (Oh yeah, and a 100 hp shot of N2O and rpm window switch without blowing up the motor when you get it into 3rd.)

Racing can get pretty expensive. My last 1/4 mile cost about $5k. Lost the motor at about 90 mph. Still coasted across the line for a 15.7 and out ran the kid in the civic. Out running the "Fast and Furious" kids was really funny. Of course, out running a couple stock Mustang GT's in a Jeep made a couple people want to cry. Just too expensive and dangerous though.

Dude, you're not gonna break anything drag racing a 210 hp V6 SUV.

Depends... If you bump it up to over 335 hp and 400 lbft torque the motor will eventually go. I have a 3.7 short block sitting in my garage that proves it.

Even without bumping up the power, blow a tire at 70-80 mph and very bad things could happen in a tall SUV.

A bizzilion years ago I had paid the entry fee for a $$$ race and then could not get my drag car to fire. They were only giving us one pass due to a weather delay. Well, I was not about to lose my entry fee for nothing. Out comes the tow vehicle: '93 Dodge CTD dually. It made a 16.40 pass, I dialed 16.40 and won the first round. Broke out with a 16.38 on a 16.40 dial in round two. Not bad times for something weighing 4 tons and, according to the valve cover, had 160 HP. There was also no need to worry about mosquitos the rest of the night, either. 8)

It was kind of ridiculous. I found it to be hilarious though. Really showed off the articulation up front when I launched it. Seemed like the front wheels were going to lift off the ground. I wonder how it would launch now with the big heavy tires and OME HD's? May have to try it while I'm out tomorrow. I'll have to see where the brake stall is now with the 245/75R16's. It was about 2500 RPM with the 245/65R17's. I don't have the N2O connected anymore, but I still have the stall converter and no torque management.

haha.. my jeep ran like the wind with a magnaflow muffler and K&N intake with small tires (the stock goodyears)... plus i could launch it at whatever i wanted since it's a six speed. everyone was amazed at how well it ran! that's out the window now with 32's that seriously doubled my rotational mass.. and the lift and lights that killed the aerodynamics. ohhh well i'll save the fast for something later in life ( after college )

I could pretty much launch it at whatever RPM I wanted to before. However, if I launched above 2500 it would just spin the tires all the way through 1st and 2nd, barely moving forward at all and would want to kick the rear out to the left.

Where you "power shifting?" I was wondering how the NSG370 would react to that.

so hey anyone wanna buy a 17.4 second liberty? lol

Gas prices here are getting a little too crazy and my job has me doing a lot of commuting now, im filling up twice a week, thats too much for me. Im probably going to have to sell it. I love it and all and if i wasnt traveling as much i wouldnt care.

hahaha nope i've never "power shifted" i would feel too guilty for my drive train if i did. but in 2wd it would catch a chirp of tire in first, second, and third :)
