My hitch I bought was a pain to install. The last bolt was barely off. Took the right combo of loose bolts and tight bolts for it to line up. I have the extra bolts that came with my hitch. I can't remember if they are the old ones that were there already for the gas skid or if I swapped them out with the new ones, but I have the bolts if you need them. |

The MOPAR hitch lines up perfectly,I paid $135 from a dealership when I bought mine so it's not much more then any other brand out there. |

That's why I had asked, my Universal ($89) has 3 holes, only the front and rear mount up according to the directions. I haven't looked at the mounting of a KJ only model, so I couldn't speak for it. |

You need all 6 bolts in to be rated for 5000lbs in the KJ,no matter what the hitch say's,I wouldn't use the raer hitch as a recovery point either without all 6 bolts in there.

rangerd77 wrote: thanks TROY, also can i drill holes into the frame rail to ensure that i have all 6 bolts in there? No,the frame rail has 6 welded nuts on the inside for the rear hitch/gas tank skid so drilling new holes will do nothing but put another hole in the frame with no way to secures a bolt.Your best bet is to drill the hitch to line up with the pre-exsisting hole/nut in the frame.

Another tip for your installation: for the forward most bolt on the passenger side, jack the Jeep up and let the tire droop on that side. Access that bolt from the wheel well rather than underneath. That way the exhaust isn't in your way. |

Yes I do. Just look for the LJ on 35's. However, I am going to start riding my bike to work to save some gas money so even if the Jeep is not there, I might be. Stop in and say hi sometime. Maybe I can give you a hand with wrenching on the Jeep. |

hell yeah bro ill be in prob 2morow i usually park on the TACO BELL side or out back of CHILIS back to the bolts. i got them from Courtland Hardware in Bel Air. with Troy giving me the size of them, all i had to do was ask for them. so i get underneath and take a real hard long look at what the hell i was doing. i knew what i was doing but had no idea what i was getting myself into. with that being said, i tried to screw a bolt in and all i got was nothing. so i srayed and soaked the hell out of the hole. had to take a darn gun cleaning rod and chamber wire brush to get all the crap out of it. and still nothing with the bolt. so i noticed that there was another bolt that was there from the factory near the license plate area. so i took it out and started to screw that in. i worked after wrenching on it for a few times. all in all i had to do this to all six bolts and the est time was about 2 hours. 2 darn hours just to put on a darn hitch. didnt think it take that long but whatever its on now. thank for the help guys, ill take pics 2morow and let you guys see what i am talking baout with the bolt and bumper cutout that i didnt mention. |
