I am moving my spare tire to a custom roof rack I built and would like to know if there is anything available aftremarket, or what others have done to plug or cover the holes from the original tire carrier on the back of my 05 Liberty. Thanks in advance for the help

Somewhere on here somebody was saying they used a plastic plug that leaves just a button type cover for the holes. I'm sure someone will remember it. Be sure to put a good wind deflector on your rack. The tire will create a LOT of drag.

Thanks, never thought about the wind resistance thing. I made the rack using unistrut and pre drilled angle iron I found laying around the garage, painted it with satin rustoleum finish to match the factory roof rack, it actually looks real good. I am going to put the spare on the angle iron and strap it down. I have some sheet metal I can bend and bolt right to the uni strut. I'll get some of those plugs, I've seen them at the autopart store. Thanks

Would love to see some detailed pictures of the custom rack.

As of now I just have the uni strut mounted with my fog lights attached. I have the angle iron cut and painted but have to mount that on the uni strut. With what is done I got some compliments from friends and neighbors, over all satisfied with the results. 2 pieces of unistrut 4 foot long mounted on factory roof rails where they mount to the body. 2 pieces of angle iron that were already pre drilled with the holes about 2 inches apart, I have them cut at 39 3/4 inches. the way its set up is real sturdy, and I can slide the rails just buy loosening the 3/8 bolts and sliding it to fit the slots in the uni strut or move it to fit in the various holes in the angle iron.Never posted pics so if somebody can give me instructions I can post what I have done so far, tomorrow when its light out.
