I plan on purchasing a Frankenlift for my 05' CRD withing the next couple of months. Is it really worth getting the Frankenlift II and spending the extra $131 for the OME struts as opposed to the rancho struts in the Frankenlift I.

OME is extremely good but so is Rancho, I would go with the Rancho and save the money

Thinking ahead....if you ever plan on installing an aftermarket bumper I would go with the OME struts, if not save a few bucks and go with the Ranchos. I dont have a CRD but do have the ARB and heavy duty springs along with the Ranchos, they have done great with over 65000 miles on them. Still ride really well

To me it depends on the type of ride you want. I wanted a slightly softer ride so I went with the OME all around. The Ranchos are valved for heavier vehicles so they will ride stiffer than the OME will on a fairly light kj. Both will last forever pretty much and both are great products. I ran rancho on my 87 YJ, my dad has them on his F-350, and my brother has them on his CJ8. Having spent a lot of time in Rancho supported vehicles, I think I prefer the OME. My 2 cents.

I went through a set of Ranchos on a Daystar front lift and not happy w/ the current set on my wifes Frankenlift front. (older version though) will be switching to OME's in near future.

BUT the front Ranchos are for a KJ so how are you saying they are for a heavier vehicle? Mine rides like a Caddy now and would not want it any softer but to each his own

You need the CRD Frankinlift the other Frankinlifts coils are weaker then the stock CRD coils, even the HD coils.Rancho or OME struts, they both are good.

I have Rancho struts with Daystar spacers and the stock 400lb/in springs- there are roads/speeds where the struts don't damp well and it oscillates.
The OME's should have more damping and the OME springs for the CRD are 500lb/in - so I think the Ranchos would be overwhelmed.

(I will be upgrading sometime soon)

That would be caused by the Daystar spacer causing to much pre-load on the coil and not the Rancho strut, you will get the same result with the OME strut.

Oh and the OEM CRD coils are 410lbs rated,OME HD are 400lbs,OME CRD coils(790's) are 500lbs rated.

Me thinks a lot of people have no idea what a spring does and what a shock does....they change things out do not liking one aspect of the ride but change the wrong thing.

For example the Daystar spacer lift, TJKJ is right, it is the spacer that is causing the problem not the shock-strut, but I read things like this all the time

Oh well before someone gets mad at me again I will just let you waste money

Xs 2
the Daystar spacers are not letting the spring do its thing through a complete cycle which is causing the problem, not the Rancho strut
