I went to Firestone today to ask about their lifetime alignment and this is what they said, "We will only align vehicles that have stock suspensions, if you want to give us a call tomorrow you can speak to our store manager about it." WTF??? Has anybody ever had this happen? |

Yup, If they can' t use the book for alignment they don't want to do it. These guys don't want you coming back and complaining later. So if you can assure them that your not going to ask for you money back if it can't be done, they will probably make the attempt. I tried a couple of places before I found a guy who would "get it as close as possible". It also took a while for it to settle in so that an alignment could be done. first try was close but not exactly right. after I had driven it 4 months, my guy was able to get it dialed in. |

So then should I wait then to put some miles on the lift? It pulls about as much as it did before the lift which was very very little anyway. Plus if it was pretty far out of alignment then the stock tires will wear a little faster |

it may not pull but the alignment is way off after a lift! Go to a good mom and pop type place for an alignment, I don't trust the big name places. The place I go to checked my alignment 2000 miles ago last weekend dropped into a big hole and I knew I knocked it out, took it in yesterday and they did it again, guy came out tossed me the keys and said come back when you do that again ! No charge! So I have lifetime |

I just put on the Daystar 2.5" spacer lift last weekend. I took it to Firestone Monday morning and got a lifetime alignment, no problem. I even told them it would be off quite a bit since I just put the lift on. I think it all depends on what Firestone you bring it to. The one I go to honors my lifetime alignment on my K24 swapped civic with a full aftermarket suspension. I've had it re-aligned after adjusting the coilovers, they did it again, no questions asked. |

In my area my local Firestone dealer nas 2TJ's and a JK sitting in the lot and they are no where near stock. I go in there every time I beat the suspension just to check it...I pay and Im out.I Guess it all depends where you go. |

Book? You mean there are alignment BOOKS? Wow, that must be some OLD TECHNOLOGY Just changing springs and shocks on any car doesn't change the way you align it...the problem lies in the fact that 99% of shops (and this is VERY understandable) don't want to mess with a vehicle with an altered suspension because they may not be able to get it in spec, and it'll cause irregular tire wear anyway. Can't blame them, IMO. You can tell them till you're blue in the face that the KJ is able to be set back to factory specs after the lift, but they won't care, because if you're gonna be back in 5,000 miles complaining that your front tires are bald on the inside edge and you want them to buy new tires, it's not worth their time. Like Tom said...just because it doesn't pull doesn't mean it's in spec. Enjoy destroying your $300+ pair of front tires if you don't get your rig aligned:D |

Talked to the manager of that Firestone and he told me that they could only do "toe" adjustments on the KJ after lift. Guess I will be going somewhere else for an alignment. |

What's a lifetime align cost anyway? I know a regular one here in town is $55. Do you have to buy tires from them too or something? |

my $.02, if they, any company, won't give you what you want, go somewhere else. it is a cost vs. gain, how much more are you wililng to pay for satisfaction. i could be wrong but i would rather give some local more money, than a large company if i can. espicially in a "service" field. |

thats why I never deal with the big box stores, I deal with local people and know that they will be there 6 months from now, I have had mine aligned 3 times now at the small place up the street and has cost me a total of 65 bucks....on sale for 139 its a crock |
