Hey all... after a ridiculous (nearly) 12 hour ordeal the CRD is lifted. I wound up with several unexpected repairs to some bonehead's prior wrenching... I swear they stripped everything :x

I'll post up pics tomorrow along with some nice little tricks I found out along the way.... stay tuned

I can't wait to see pics of it with some 16x8s and 265s, since he can clear 'em up front with ease with the Elephant Ears!

12 hour ordeal? Yep I know what you are talking about. it took me 12 hours to install my frankenlift II. Found so many problems while taking it apart.....

be interesting to see a list of the little problems you found doing a lift and taking 12 hours. I have done 5 and the sixth to do coming up and none have taken over 4 hours total work time, that includes 1 Frankenlift, 2 OME spring/Rancho shocks, 2 Rustys

Maybe if you listed them it would help others know what to look for and have ways around the problems

At least you were not paying anyone, although I pay myself 99 bucks an hour to work on mine  flat rate ya know

OK so I got a good night's sleep so here's the rundown on the problems with the lift yesterday. I spent all day fixing the problems that someone previously caused by wrenching on a rig they shouldn't have been.

1. Pulled front wheels off and the BJ studs were threaded with SAE nuts on the metric studs. The bolts were seized on both nuts and they stripped out the 10mm fitting on the bottom trying to tighten the ball joints. The threadas were also mangled where they used vice grips on the threads. I wound up having to cut the BJ studs off and replaced both UCA's.

2. Noticed some "shoe goo" or something similar repair goop on one of my CV boots and that one didn't feel like it had as much grease in it as the others. Replaced that CV boot and regreased the joint. Regreased the other side while I was still angry about it.

3. 1 swaybar bushing was missing. (never made any noise somehow)

4. Narrower shocks were on the rear and they didn't use any spacers. The shock mounts were bent in and I had to bend them back out.

5. Most bolts had rounded edges (could tell they used the closest SAE sockets they had on the metric bolts and proceeded to round half of them.

It was a circus... but at least it's up to par at the moment.

Who in the h$ll owned your CRD before you?Seems like they didn't know how to work on a vehicle period, and why did they rip the whole front end apart anyway? Did it have a lift on and then removed when you bought it? For how hard those balljoint studs are I can't see how they got a SAE nut on them in the first place.

Am I #6? It might be about a month for me to get the funds. I might end up #7 or #8.

Back on the thread, nice job Durangotang! When I first saw your name I thought you might have been sporting a durango, but I noticed your from durango. I traded a 5.9 durango with 31"s in on my libby. Anyway, GJ!
