Post subject:  Hot air discharge under driver's side

I know it's been very warm out here in the desert, but have been noticing much hotter than usual air coming from under the vehicle when I exit the driver's side. I notice it when I get out of the vehicle after driving some distance. Definitely different from the passenger side of the vehicle. Wanted your opinions -- could I have an exhaust manifold problem? Engine temp is running at normal range. Crawled underneath and didn't notice any particular exhaust pipe problems that I could visually detect. I have the factory installed heavy duty cooling engine fan. Is it just possible this fan is blowing the hot air towards the driver's side (and not the passenger side) and I'm noticing it when I exit the jeep? Or ? Any ideas appreciated.

I don't think it is anything to worry about. Sounds normal to me.

The hood on the KJ traps a LOT of hot air. So the fan is just pushing it out of the only place it can (underneath)

Seems totally normal.

Ya got that right. That is why guys are putting vents on the hood.

Post subject:  question for the guys with the vents

Are the guys with the hood vents, and anybody else for that matter, removing the lining on the underside of the hood? Isn't that there to protect the hood finish from exess heat?

If you install the vents, the lining's gotta go. Or you can cut around it - but with the vents letting out all of that excess heat, there isn't any need for it.

Hey desertrat; I get the same thing with mine. It was 107 yesterday and I drove about 60 freeway miles. When I stopped for fuel there was a little breeze blowing and it felt like a heat gun on my legs. Nothing to worry about as long as your temp is in the normal range. Welcome to summer!

Mrkake, that's exactly what it felt like on my legs also, like a heat gun blowing from underneath. Thought it was odd, but glad to know it sounds like a normal situation. Thanks for the feedback :D

Time to mod up some kind of AC duct down to your engin bay. HaHa

Mine does this too. I have been looking it do doing the loovers on my hood as well. I do ALOT of wheeling and I notice it more then than normal driving.

I like what tjkj04 did on his hood.

Any body with the hood vents noticed any problems with the paint/finish on the hood since removing the lining and installing the vents?

No problems yet and have ran a ton of miles since installing them. I think with the vents it lets enough heat escape that it should not be a problem, if it is repaint it every 3 / 4 years, thats why I always buy black, pretty easy touch up

the heck with the paint. Not worried about that at all.
My concern is rain/snow. How is the water stoped from driping in and onto the engin/electrical wires?
I know there is a seal but where the loovers are what is stoping the water fron going in?
