Hey guys
I am looking for brain storm of ideas.

I started getting a noise, low frequency humming which changes to vibration as I slow about 3 weeks ago. It starts at about 45 mph, after I let my foot off of the gas (coasting). Put my foot on the gas, and it goes away. As long as I have my foot on the gas it seems to not be as prominent.

It is REALLY prominent when coming to a stop. the whole lights up at below 15 mph and feels like the jeep is going to shake apart. While slowing down, the pitch of the noise drops, so its dependent on speed
There is no shake in the steering wheel while these noises occur.

After driving on the highway for 10+ miles, the noises pretty much stops occurring at the instances above.

My jeep has 87000 miles on it
It's frankenlifted.

Since its seems to correspond with the wheel rotation, I am assuming it has to be something in the drive chain:
Wheel Bearings
Front diff bearings
U-joints

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

If the shaft is not modified , you can get them at your local parts store, you may have to have someone do them for you if you have never engaged i the experience. Do you know how to check to see if they are in fact bad.

Sounds something like the problems I have run into over the last month.

I have replaced my fron CV's axels and front drive shaft.
doing this solved most of my problems. Now when I hit 40 MPH i get strange noise and off ballance grind. My rear diff's are shot. The will be fixed monday and I will see if 100% of my problems are gone. ( GOD I HOPE SO) I am getting tired of borrowing my dads car. and spending more money.......It seems like I am chasing my problem and when that one is fixed, I find another one

Well, keep us posted on your situation.

I did rear brakes today, and because of some rusted rotors, I was not able to get to replace my U-joints.
Based on what research I have done, I am hoping that it is the u-joints.

After the break job, I only get noise and vibration when coasting. Apply gas and everything goes away.

But it looks as though my drivers side rear axle is weeping.. the goo smells alot like diff fluid.. SO that will be another issue to deal with over time.
