| Post subject: | Part recommendations |
Hey everyone, Well, I'm getting ready to order parts to get rid of the noise and vibration in the front end. I'm pretty convinced that it is the CVs, as well as a possible axle shaft bearing either on the drivers or passengers side (if not both). So, in ordering parts, I want to make sure I have everything I need to get the job done. I'm going to be ordering CV assemblies for both sides, and was looking for recommendations of all other parts I may need like, axle shaft bearings and seals, axle shafts possibly?, etc..... Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks guys! |

Have you checked the tire balance, tire having a broken belt, bad unit bearing, front driveshaft,or a sticking front rotor yet? I'd find out what the problem is first instead of throughing parts in,it's always the very last part you think of/replace that is causing the problem. |

i'm having a sort of vibration as well in my front end. i changed one CV (which was blown)... the new CV i had was bad so i put the stock one back in then replaced it again with a new one..so i figured all the beating on the wheel bearing caused the noise.. so i got a new wheel bearing under warrenty and it is still there |

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure I have ruled out the wheels/tires being an issue. Be careful when diagnosing by pulling the front driveshaft. When my issue was just a vibration, I pulled the front driveshaft, and the vibe was totally gone. Bought a new front driveshaft assembly, and the vibe came right back once I put the front driveshaft assembly in. I had one of the axle shaft bearings replaced on the passenger side a while back to cure a noise/vibe I was having back then. Can't remember if it was inner or an outer bearing though. I want to say inner. Any good way to diagnose a bad CV without a torn boot? Based on the sound it's making, it sounds exactly what has been described here as a bad CV. Thanks again guys, and keep the suggestions comin'! |
