I've asked this before but I keep getting two answers. I want to know if I can run 265/75/16's with my Daystar lift.
I'm not worried about gears and power yet one day I'll take care of that. I will cut whatever I need to. I just need to know if I need to save for more lift or tires.

you can run them but they will rub... A LOT. you'll def. need to hack the pinch weld down.. cut the bumper/innerfender a lot.. and the rear will rub a lot on the back flare as well. some have added more bump stops to correct that.. others have cut it out of the way. plus if your using factory wheels.. or factor back spacing on wheels you'll need atleast 1.25inch wheel spacers to avoid the tires rubbing on the sway bar. personally.. i would save for a taller lift.. i'm running 265/75/16's with a frankenlift (4inches over stock) and i still get a real little rub at full stuff in the rear but none in the front. however i also havnt added bumpstops or cut the rear fender flare/door to avoid the rubbing. get the larger lift first.. then larger tires and your rig will thank you :) both on and offroad!

In the very near future I will be able to tell you. I have 265/75's at home and a daystar/rancho lift with clevis and iso's. I'll let you know what it takes to make it work.

The other weekend when I got my new shoes they tossed on a pair of BFG AT KO 265/75/16 and it looked good but yes, the pinch weld needs to be hammered down and a fair amount of the wheel well plastic needs to be hacked. BTW I have a OME HD Lift all the way around.

I ran the 2.5" Daystar for nearly 5 years and during that time I ran through one set of MTR's at 265/75. I did all the requisite cutting and pounding. They will still rub and stuff, but they look good and you get a tad more ground clearance. I went down to 245/75's and have been happier without the rubbing.

Would 31x10.5 15s work a little better with my lift and how do I find 15s that work with the liberty. The thing is I want MTZ and dont want to buy a new lift I would get to mad at myself for not finding this site before the guy at the local shop told me that they dont make lifts other than the pucks of daystar and skyjacker.

Tires were installed yesterday.

I pounded the pinch welds and removed the rear inner liner. No rubbing during normal driving but I haven't flexed it out yet. Going in reverse it rubs if I turn very sharp though. I'll update ya when it goes off road.

Thanks, did you use any wheel spacers?

No spacers. I am running a 16x7 rim with 4" backspacing.

(edit: I should also add that I have no front flares  )

would 31x10.5 15 on soft 8s work better than 265/75/16 on stock wheels and spacers or should I stay with 245/75/16 and be unhappy

i did a pretty tough trail with my 265/75/16 BFG AT KO's with stock wheels and spacers.. then did the exact trail again with 245/75/16 goodyear MTR's on rubicon wheels. i couldnt wait to get my other tires back on. my diff. as well as skids and rock rails hit a lot of things that it didnt before. suck it up and go with the 265/75/16's.. if you plan on wheeling it it's night an day.

I would but money is low and i just want MTZ's plus it would take forever to save for another lift and tires. so will the 31s on 15 soft 8s work with my lift ok or do i need to start looking for a new job lol

From everything I've experienced and seen, It is pretty much exacly the same amount of work for either tyre size to work. To run the 15's you have to run a less backspaced rim, thus increasing wheel track that means with articulation you get contact eariler, so big bumpstops are needed and trimming. To run 32's in the 16's they are simpily bigger so again same deal, bumpstops and trimming..

All depends on what rubbing YOU are prepared to put up with, everybodys different, some don't care about a small deg of rub, because the benefits outweight the cons.. Some people can't accept any rubbing, and thats their choice..

Best thing to do is find someone nearby with a set up you like and actually see it working, and even test fit the tyres to see.

If you've never had a lift and never run bigger tyres, best to start with "Baby steps" rather than jumping in whole hog, that way you learn more about exactly what you want and need, and don't make any costly mistakes.

I've seen folks try and fail, I've seen folks have great success.

Just my 3c and the voice of reason.

Well you do know that 265/75's are a 32" and you are comparing to a 31" which is pretty much the same as the 245/75.................Just on a smaller rim. I would not go from a 245/75R16 to a 31x10.5x15. That just doesn't make since. You do know that with most tire companies they run smaller than they put on the side wall. Most I said not all.

Yes but I would love to have MTZ so thats why I would go from 245s to the 31s on 15s becuz the only other option is 265s and everyone says thats a no no with my lift so I guess 31x10.5x15 is what I have to do to get the tires I want.
