Oh well whether it be a dodge, ford, chevy, toyota, or even a honda if I was stuck and they could get me out I would appreciate it  Of course I would look for another Jeep first

Nothing wrong with a "true" 2 wheel drive in the sand, only danger is since its pushing, if the front wheels dig hard and you are going to fast it can flip.

I almost bought a house in Lakehills, I got concerned because there were so many for sale at the time?

If there was something wrong with a 4x2 in the sand, Ivan Stewart wouldn't have been drivin em in desert racing for decades:)

True...I guess I was just thinkin of really soft sand. I have seen big ol' trucks clearin huge donuts get stuck in real soft sand. It probably depends on the consistency huh?

depends on a lotta things...most of the time i've seen anybody get stuck in any substance (mud, sand, straight dirt, etc) it's 100% driver error...they could've easily gone through had they not gotten over-confident.

I've seen trucks on 44s at the dunes get stuck when stock soccer mom SUVs never put a wheel wrong.

All those desert prerunners are 2wd. So are sand buggys. We used to just float the front through the sand. Usually it is your drive wheels that dig down and get you stuck. In 4wd you can dig all four down to the axels pretty quick if you dork it up.

2wd KJ's should do fine in most cases on the sand. I fish the Delaware and New Jersey beaches with mine and although I use 4wd I have forgotten on more than 1 occasion. On these beaches the sand at the dune crossings is usually chewed up pretty good from the guys who "dont bother" to air down their tires. I usually air down to 16-18psi on my SRA's depending on beach conditions. Once onto the hard packed sand your fine but airing down definately helps widen your tires footprint for times when the sand gets soft. Lower pressures help the tires to float over the sand and not dig trenches as much.
