 That's what failed. No one has ever broken a stock a-arm, that is, the arm itself. There isn't even a weld at the ball joint bung on the stock a-arms to possibly fail. Ball joint failure with the stock arms is a totally different story.

Oh I believe that. But what I was referring to the broken arms in this manner. This has happened a few times with older generation Al's arms, just normal operation till BANG, broken a-arm and a tire with a funny angle.

Man, I'm really starting to get worried about lifting my liberty! The amount of driving I do, maybe its a better idea to wait the extra 6-12months and blow the big coin on a really solid lift. I WISH BDS made a bigger lift! They have such a good warranty. I'm thinking I might start buying the pieces one at a time for a OME lift, than get a dealer to install everything when I get it all together. What parts do I need to do a OME lift anyways? At least then I can get around 2.5" and have a very solid system, better than a spacer kit I suppose.

well first dont go to the dealer they will charge you a crazy amount, and all you need for an OME lift is 4 OME coils and 2 Rancho Shocks(RSX17004) and 2 Rancho Struts(RSX 17505) can be all bought for about $600, I did mine for $650/675 and I added a little extra and got 3"

I would get Al's arms, the new Gen 4.5s, unless you like a-arm breakage or upper ball joint failure!

I didn't mean a Jeep dealer, that was a typo on my part. I will go to a local place that works only on Jeeps. I really don't want to risk the installation, I have a friend that works on trucks and such, he says he has replaced shocks and stuff, but ever done a lift. Considering what could happen if we did something wrong, the $400+ for a installation at a shop is my only option. How much are the frigging A-Arms that I HAVE to have  Man, I know its a bad idea to go cheap, and just buy a spacer kit, considering how much I use this jeep, but I really hate the idea of doubling my parts costs

if you only do OME coils you dont need new a-arms, I have OME HD coils and a 3 ring clevis with stock a-arms and mine is fine

So, if I wanted to just put new OME coils on it, what is really involved? Assuming I had someone that knew there way around suspension, and we had access to a spring compressor? Since a shop would charge me hundreds for this, what is the risk in doing it myself? What I'm trying to say is, am I taking my life, and my fiancees life in my hands, by not spending the $400 or so at a shop?

might as well go ALL OME and get the shocks and struts at the same time as the coils. 8)

a clevis lift is done by taking some 2" electrical condut nuts and slipping them over the strut before putting the strut back into the clevis, Il see if I can find a pic that shows it really good

Ive never done any suspension work beofre but i did my lift with the help of my dad who has never done it before, and depending on the coils you get its prolly eaiser to take the front set up to a local shop and have them compress and install the new coils and then all you would have to do is bolt it back in, and a shop should only charge about $25 to do both front coils

Man, I don't have a frigging clue what to do about the lift. Even if I install it myself, what parts. I know the franky and the OME are the top names, (very similar too), but they are not cheap! I could probably get away with a OME and Rancho, and leave my stock arms, but if I go franky than I would need new ones I figure. That brings my cost up sky hi! I hate the idea of blowing almost $1000 jsut on parts when I can get the frigging daystar lift installed for the same cost!

Just so I'm clear, the franky is just the OME HD coils, rancho shocks, and the spacers by daystar?

From a shop I would be paying something like $700-800 for a daystar lift, so I'm wondering, if I did the installation myself (BIIIG IF), I am saving probably $400. I'm still spending about $300-$00 for the daystar 2.5" spacer, and the rancho shocks/struts (I think, maybe not shocks& struts, that doesn't sound right). So, that extra $400 in my pocket, I could complete the franky lift by getting the new coils right? I'm starting to think, if I do the installation myself, I should do the spacer kit, and the new shocks or struts, than wait a while, than get the OME coils. Or do it the other way around :)
