Does anybody know what the largest tire size is that will fit the stock spare tire carrier? Thanks, Nick |

well right now i have 235-85-16 on the stock tire carrier, still in the "UP" position, and the window doesnt open unless you open the tailgate, and you gotta close the window and tailgate in "sync". and the botom of the tire JUST touches the bumper by the circle cutout for the tire on the corners, as in, you can maybe fit a paper inbetween them, its not pressing against the bumper, but just touching but im sure you could add spacers and what not to fit whatever tire size you need. and sometimes it not about how big a tire you can fit, its about weight too, over time on the hinges |

Depends on the backspacing of the wheel. With the stock carrier, 31" tires on stock wheels will clear the rear window. 32" tires if you have the Rubicon wheels. P.S. I have the spare extender if anyone needs it. Just pay shipping... |

so the MOAB rims are okay back there as long as you don't go too big on the tire? |

I have 265/75's on mine. Carrier is in the normal up position. And I have about 1/4" of room left between the tire and the glass.

Have 235/85/R16 on stock rims with the tire carrier flipped upside down. Tire touches the bumper and glass won't open with the tailgate closed. Had plenty of room back when we ran 245/75/R16 on MOABs

Not to get too far off topic, but.... What is the point (advantage/disadvantage) of keeping the tire carrier in the up right position or turning it to a 'flipped upside down' position? Now that I am lifted, I will soon be upgrading to some bigger tires and am wondering what this is all about? Thanks! Scott |

Flipping the carrier, gives a bit more room at the top to clear the glass, but a little less room on the bottom near the bumper. |

Flipping the tire carrier tilts the top of the tire away from the glass. I didn't do it on purpose. While the KJ was away for two weeks at Detours shop for the prototype BackBone - he 'tweeked' a few things... It took me a week before I even noticed he flipped the carrier for better clearance up top (and it tucks the bottom of the tire nicely with the bumper too) |

I have a 265/70-16 that the glass wont clear. I put 1/8" washer on and it just touches the bumper. Might flip the mount and see how that works. |
